I first posted this on 8.14, but given what has happened in the last month in the Gulf, I thought it worth repeating.
I recently recieved a copy of a fantastic book, "Broadcasting Through Crisis - How to Keep Going When Tragedy Hits" by Dr. Ann Utterback, PhD. Her specialty is teaching Broadcasters how to deal with stress while working.
This 150 page book is full of very easy to understand and useful stuff written for the Broadcaster in mind.
Plus, some stories written by Broadcasters, such as the WTOP reporter who actually witnessed the plane hit the pentagon on 9/11.
I have no connection with this book other than as a reader. Trust me, folks, if you read it, you will want everyone on your staff to read it.
It REALLY is that good.

One last thought. Sitting here in Seattle, I have been streaming WWL. The United Radio Broadcasters of New Orleans certainly have performed above and beyond the call of duty. Has there ever been anything like it before? Kudos to all of Entercoms and Clear Channels folks for the incredible work you have done. Take care of yourselves.
