Aprenda Ingles - WPIX-TV (1969-1992)

Does anyone know who the host was of WPIX's "Aprenda Ingles"? It was a series that taught English to Spanish speaking students. It was produced by WPIX-TV and aired from 1969 - 1992. I was just curious if he was a WPIX staffer and what became of him? There are videos of the series on youtube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xl9WJQGRDCQ.
 
A title in the lower third of the screen as the man first appears at the start of the show, identifies him as Dr. Medardo Guttierrez. He was a language and literature teacher from the NYC area, probably from CCNY (which is mentioned in the closing credits as a supporting institution) and continued it for some time. WPIX produced it as a public service program, aimed at native Spanish speakers, both children and adults, who wanted to learn English. They initially aired it at the start of the broadcast day at 5 AM. It stayed on the air in early morning hours until the early 90s, although how long it was in first run production and when it went into repeats is something I can't find out.

I'd guess by the look of it in excerpts you see on YouTube , including the graphics, that it wasn't in production past the late 1970s or early 1980s before going into repeats. The subject matter wasn't going to change much with time, and you could get away with recycling it for new generations of English-learners and still get the job done.
 
I believe I found out what happened to the host of Aprenda Ingles. His name was Dr. Medardo Gutierrez as stated above and he lived in Morris, NY and was a Spanish professor at Oneonta State College. He died in 1978 at the age of 54, so Aprenda Ingles must have been produced prior to 1978. However he appeared much older then that on the show.
