APRIL 11th GET-TOGETHER

I say still have it since Cap had to close down...we kidnap Cap and move it across the street to do some crawfish at the Boiling Pot.

Thoughts?

Thanks for the sammiches and memories Cap! Here's to gettin' back on your feet soon...luv ya!
Cap needs SERIOUS help in getting the stuff out the restaurant this weekend...if anyone can help, please post or call me 228-233-8139. Wish I was closer and not packing/moving myself!

Some of us have been talking behind the scenes. I would like to throw out a suggestion. I don't know if any of you have been, but in LaPlace on the lake they have opened two restaurants and above one is a fabulous snowball stand. Frenier Landing is an oyster bar & seafood restaurant on the lake and The Crab Trap sells mostly boiled seafood. They are calling the area "the new west end." It really is very nice to sit outside and enjoy the lake breeze. Of course I don't know where any of you live so that might be too far a drive. Just a thought. If Slidell is your thing then go with that.

Mrs. Fury, I've already planned to be in south La.-La.-land for a week or ten days surrounding the planned get-together. Any place down there would be fine for me, and I'd love to see everybody again, if only to re-bond against what's certainly been too long a dismal spell for all of us. But I wonder about the feasibility of your suggestion, for two reasons: first, both Bob and Cap are staggering under enormous emotional burdens right now; is it maybe asking too much, that they do all they've done for these past get-togethers? or is there someone else with the time, energy, and organizational abilities to TCO all the stuff that has to be done, for us just to show up at the same time in the same place? Other thing: Cap has given us the luxury of closing his place of business to normal customers for a whole afternoon of characters who might not mix well--especially when well mixed with certain libational additives--with the regular crowd at what would probably be a family-type restaurant? Would your LaPlace eateries have a space where they could separate us from folks they hope to keep coming back much more frequently than we will? Weerdo, same questions re: your suggestion, The Boiling Pot...
Not trying to dampen anyone's enthusiasm for this. Hell, as long as I'm going to be there either way, I'd really like to see everyone at least one more time. But if it's going to further add to the physical/spiritual turmoil on folks already way too heavy-laden...or mess up homefolks' relations with their neighborhood eateries... those are things we need to think about, before making a decision. (On the other hand, time's a-wastin', Snuffy Smiff!!!) Ya know???
And you're right, Phyllis -- does make one wonder. :'(
