Because of the meteoric rise of WQYK AM in the Feb. PPM, The Sports Animal is flipping to MOYL on 4/1/10 with the old WGUL airstaff. Good luck guys down at 620.

I think a much better format choice would be an All Wayne Newton, All The Time radio format with Gypsy Dance weekends. That should be a ratings winner, especially with PPM...

"All Amish, all the time!"

A shout-out for Pinecraft! with a Lancaster remote.

Jeff in Sa-ra-so-ta!

So we admit that the Sports Animal is toast . CC is keeping Ron Diaz and putting him on Mix with Nancy and Shriner. It will now be the Nancy Alexander Show with Ron and Shriner piping in occassionally.

If I remember correctly, wasn't there a man (20 years or so, just before the limit to 1 AM and 1 FM per market) who owned a class A FM in Wisconsin, mono, that he ran himself (which meant the station was on air between 4 and 12 hours a day depending on how long he wanted to run the board) - and the music was strictly polkas and waltzes. Somebody filed a competing application for the frequency but it stirred up a lot of interest and controversy, especially in Broadcasting magazine. I think the old man finally relented due to "health reasons".

Sounds like a guy by the name of Simon Geller who owned a little class a fm in Glochester Ma. He'd sign on for the minimum hours a day and play Classical from a studio in his bedroom. He finally sold out for health reasons too.

There was an older man by the name of Simon Geller who owned and operated a class A FM station WVCA on 104.9 licensed to Gloucester, Massachussetts. Geller single handedly, as the station's only employee, operated the station as an all classical formatted station. If memory serves me correct, Geller operated the station daily from Noon till 10PM. Geller eventually sold the station which is now classical formated WBOQ. I'm not sure of any similar situations in Wisconsin or anywhere else. Could WVCA be the station you are refering?
