I loved when O & A god fired for pulling the immature Menino prank, does that count?

WILD playing country (was mentioned in Globe; during the morning show awhile back). Also, not really a prank but I remember a WFNX DJ
back in late 80s/early 90s (before "Anthology" came out) saying, "We promise
we won't do any April Fools stuff here, not us. We'll be right back with
the new single by the Beatles right after this."

IIRC, WMWM played some top 40 instead of usual alternative for a little while
on April Fools Day.

NOT a prank: In 84 I was at WMWM on Sun April 1 and the teletype mentioned
that Marvin Gaye had been shot dead by his father. I told some people upstairs
at the Log office and they didn't believe me because it was April Fools Day.
Then someone walked in: "Hey, I just heard on Kiss 108 that Marvin Gaye died..."

There was just a big prank down in Providence. Alt-rock WBRU apparently pretended to switch to a jockless Adult/Variety Hits "Jack"/"Mike" type format as "Buddy FM". I heard some of it this morning driving around the west suburbs out by Route 128. It was funny, a VERY random mix of mostly lame hit music, and REALLY BAD liners.

I'm back in Somerville now where adjacent WHRB stomps it out, but the word is that they switched back to their regular alt-rock format.

Check out the Providence board.
