April PPM

Art, thanks for that update. The beauty contest numbers are just about meaningless.

The April PPM was very interesting. Given so many changes the market has seen, I get the impression listeners are all over the place sampling lots of different stations with cume up and share down at some stations. That should settle down soon I would think.

WOKV. With breaking news almost a daily event, even those who don’t always listen know where to turn. WOKV is probably Cox’s most valuable property.

WXXJ X102.9 - dropped 2 full shares yet their cume went up. Can anyone explain the big share dip? Is the station not as exciting as once was? Did WSOS impact X102.9?

WSOS & WEJZ. WSOS has a 2 share overall. Prior to the flip, they were around a 1 share. WEJZ seems to be the sole beneficiary of getting all the former WSOS listeners. That makes sense I guess.

WQIK & WGNE – In past 3 months, WQIK has lost over 40,000 in cume. WGNE has gained 18,700. The difference may have gone to WOKV with all the Bid Ladden news and maybe even WSOS. Country music fans are often rock fans too. Me thinks WQIK needs to do something. And fast!

WAPE. Will probably trend even higher next time with summer vacations starting.

Jax is a very interesting radio market. We march to the beat of a different drummer here compared to most of the rest of the state.

Thats been the surprise with PPM's cumes are up, more people are listening to radio. Though they don't spend as much time listening.
With the diary's less people listen to radio but they spend more time listening. So which is it, which methodology is right? mmm let's flip a coin.. call it heads or tales..

As far as second guessing what motivates listeners, who knows they're are fickle. One day you're in and the next you suck! Sort of like teenage dating..
I love you, I don't.. I love you, I don't ..

Gator and WQIK both share their audience 60/70%. Exclusive listening is small, a station may have just 1% thats truly theirs.

I would guess that by now a majority of X listeners are aware of Rock 105's format change, and flip between the two stations. There's a difference, but there's also some overlap, and I hear tracks on one that I would expect on the other, etc.

SOS will be a favorite among those who are able to receive the signal. They were very heavy on Southern rock and hair bands at the launch (gee, I wonder why?) but now have loosened up and the music selection is much better than anything Jax has heard in years.
