And that’s a big IF. Audacy isn’t even close to exiting bankruptcy yet it seems.
It can be done surprisingly quick (couple of months) if the debt holders are satisfied. They are going to take a "haircut" the question is how bad. I was really surprised that this thing wasn't "prepackaged".

There have been bankruptcies where a sale of some of the assets bring in more than originally estimated, and the debtors are made whole and sometimes even the common stockholders will get pennies on the dollar instead of being completely wiped out. That's not common, though; usually there aren't enough assets to satisfy senior creditors. It's usually when someone comes up with a previously-unconsidered plan for liquidating assets that buyers find attractive.

With potential ABC sale, I don't know how much "media" financing would be left for someone to buy Audacy and make debt holders whole. Perhaps a billionaire wants to get into the radio business.

I wonder if the Dickeys would be interested in 100.5 to put Fan on a full market FM? If iHeart unloaded 96.7 and got 100.5?
You mean to tell me you can't pick up 93.7 or 680? LOL ... Me either. In fact, where I am (Locust Grove) 680 sounds like a weed-eater.

It's annoying that many people in Atlanta can't hear the Braves (lousy radio signal), and now many more can't see them either (bankrupt Bally vs. Comcast).

Dickey owns the online streaming rights to the radio broadcasts and streams them on the 680 app and online. People in Atlanta, and anywhere in the world with an internet connection can listen online and on their phone

The northwest part of Atlanta can get the Braves on 101.1 Ellijay. They could buy some billboards on the poor reception areas for their affiliates. It's all about the money.

If the Braves really cared about radio coverage they would have a 60 db (or whatever ) coverage clause in the contract. IIRC Dickey controlled Cumulus when the contract was let. 106.7 or 100.5 carried them which more than made up for the translator's coverage holes.

When a properly formatted station is clearly being successful on what's been historically a poor performing signal, you don't mess with it. No way is any other format in the cluster doing better than 99X on 100.5. I know I know... a lot of people are hung up on sticking it back on 99.7... however, I doubt it would do any better than it's doing right now. The key to making subpar signals work is by putting formats on them that people actually want to find and attempt to listen too. Besides, streaming apps and smart speakers have changed all this and over the air signals are not as important as they used to be aside from listening in vehicles and paying lower music license fees. Imaging and market your product CORRECTLY, and people will find you.

I wonder if the Braves are trying to force folks to buy tickets if they want to see the home games?

Star needed to do something different and has had some success with Rhythmic AC. But I recently watched a YouTube video of Craig Hunt on Star. It reminded me of what a great station Star was in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. It’s really now a shell of its former self.
You can say that about every station as well.

Since they started putting streaming numbers in the ratings usually the streaming rankings (with a few exceptions) follow the OTA rankings. It would be very interesting to see what percentage of the streaming folks started out OTA. How many found the steam without sampling the first OTA (pure Internet play).
