April PPM's

Some interesting things I've noticed...

KISS is the preferred CHR over Q102, not only in PPM but overall AQH as well. Q took a hit.
Warm is finally slowing back down after the after-xmas boost they had. Rewind is the preferred AC.
96 Rock still leading in rock with AQH. With the right promotion, they can knock WEBN out of the water even more.
Great Country is doing just the same amount of numbers, if not worse than it was before when it was Journey. Cumulus really hates that frequency, no pun intended, don't they? They love to flip fast, so maybe we'll see something new by summer.

Q seems to go up in some months then level off a bit in other PPM samples. Q is more Adult than Kiss, so that helps them in the more desired 18-34 demo. Cumulus does promote 96Rock at the Reds home games with The KISS Cam and they have their first free summer concert coming up. They need to put country on 96.5 and Rock on 94.1 if they really want to kill off WEBN.

Reds baseball helped WLW a ton, but two observations, WARM is sinking fast (maybe they should play Christmas all the time) and ESPN1530 (WCKY) shows no rating at all for the month (WOW).

Man, That's bad for 1530, especially being a 50kw signal. I use to listen to them when they had Fox sports. Now, not much at all. ESPN Radio stinks.

good for kiss...thats one hell of a month, and a nice trend over the past 5 months.

WRRM has no personality which is one reason why they are sinking. If Cumulus was smart they would do what Hubbard has done with Q102 and have a strong lineup with at least a mornng show similar to Jeff & Jen. I have a feeling though Cumulus may be planning something else with the station, like CC, they aren't known to spend money on talent and programming.

Warm 98's sinking numbers must be why they cut the Smooth Jazz Sunday brunch down to 3 hours (7-10a) instead of 5 (7a-12p) as it used to be. Of course having a live, local morning show to compete with Jeff & Jen on Q would also help them. We've also seen them try to become a bit more "newer" with their AC selections but I guess it isn't working yet.

Q is still dominant 25-54 over KISS which makes the CHR position you say Kiss is dominant in completely null and void.

Kiss pulls great numbers with Red Headed Girls between the age of 12 and 13 and because those girls get diaries it gives them an edge.

Overall, Q102 is one of the best executed Contemporary stations in the country. Them and Rewind!

My guess would be there's nobody at Warm 98 who knows how to sell Smooth Jazz Sunday Brunch... I can almost guarantee that listeners of this show don't stick around for the awful "soccer mom" pablum that Warm usually offers (I certainly do not) This is "appointment radio" and it's on the wrong station. Honestly, "Smooth Jazz Sunday Brunch" may be better suited for Mojo 100.3.

Warm 98 in 2012 is what WWEZ was in 1992: Dead or dying fast; Elevator or dentist office music. If it wasn't for the incidental listening reported while in line at a cafeteria or pediatrician waiting room, they'd be a no-show. It is time for that format to evolve.

Cumulus is rolling out an all news station in Atlanta this week. They could easily syndicate that format here on 98.5. As long as WRRM bills well they won't change it.

Leave Cincinnati without an AC station and that will cause Clear Channel to Switch either KissFM or WEBN to AC. Then again Hubbard will love it. With them having Q102 and Rewind 94.9 they could switch 97.3 to AC to pick up the former WARM98 listeners as well as compliment the 3 other stations they run.

I doubt they would as they have 100.7 that could easily fill the void of not having AC in the market. Cumulus could easily kill The Fox for a revamped version of AC if Clear Channel switched either one of their full powered FM's.
