April ratings observations

I confess that I have not looked at radio ratings in a while. I used to look at them
all the time and knew exactly where everyone stood at any given moment.
I just looked at the April data (http://ratings.****************/cgi-bin/rol.exe/arb024)
- probably the first meaningful look I've had in several months. I was struck by several things.

KISS FM is a remarkably consistent #1. No wild fluctuations in their ratings.

It's interesting how the spanish language stations are no longer in the top 10
after so many years of people saying they were going to take over.

The top rated news/talk station in KERA-FM. WBAP is close behind.
While this is certainly embarrassing for WBAP, they have to be happy they are
back in the mid-2's instead of the mid 1's where they had been.
Still a shell of its former self. Would love to know what some of the daypart
nubmers are really like.

The Ticket isn't exactly in trouble, but you have to think they're a bit worried
by the fact they've lost to KRLD for 2 of the last 4 months. Granted, they don't
have a high-profile sports team on the Ticket for play-by-play listenership, but
that didn't used to matter. Now, apparently, it does.

KSKY ticks up just a bit. I don't know if Salem is aware, but in order to get
people to listen to that station, they need to advertise. The Mark Davis billboards
were poorly done when he started and they haven't done anything since. If they ever
figure that out, they might make a run at WBAP in the ratings. As it is, they can hang
their hat on beating KLIF - but that's not saying much.

The Ticket hasn't lost the money demographic in months. What are you talking about?

Well, it sure ain't dominating it like it used to...

"In the holy demographic of men 25-54, which pays most of the bills, it was: the Fan 3.5; the Ticket 3.4; and ESPN 2.7.

In men 25-54 from Monday to Friday 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., when the high-priced local talent is behind the mike, it was: Ticket 4.2; Fan 3.9; ESPN 2.5."
