Arbitron and Liberman Broadcasting Sign Agreement for Portable People Meter Radio Rating Services
Leading Spanish Language broadcaster signs for 16 stations in three top markets
NEW YORK; November 6, 2007 – Arbitron Inc. (NYSE: ARB) today announced that Liberman Broadcasting–the largest privately held, minority-owned, Spanish-language broadcaster in the United States–has signed a five-year contract for Portable People MeterTM radio ratings services.
The agreement covers 16 Spanish-language radio stations in three markets: Dallas , Houston and Los Angeles .
Lenard Liberman, executive vice president, Liberman Broadcasting stated: “We’re confident that the Arbitron Portable People Meter system will provide advertisers with persuasive evidence of the influence that Spanish-language radio has with Hispanic consumers. We also plan to use the Portable People Meter to help our stations enhance the new music and radio programming for each market’s Hispanic community.”
Over the next three years, Arbitron is scheduled to deploy the Portable People Meter ratings service in the top 50 markets in place of the paper diary method that the company has used to collect radio audience estimates since 1965.
