Arbitron Estimates For...

We had a listener contact KEOM with compliments for posting of the playlists on the website. She stated her 9 year old daughter, and her bird, listen to the station.

Does Arbitron issue listener estimates for birds? ;D How about other household pets? :)

Y'all stay safe tonight during those nasty storms!

According to arbitron they only list pets during the mating season, usually February and May according to "Animal Planet".
The Feb breaks downs show WBAP leading in pitbull males in the 2-7 year old demographic. Stray Tom Cats 3-9 Birds didn't show.
Now KLUV shows strong with AKC registered Schnauzzers1-9,and Bassett Hounds 3-6 with mixed results for Calico Cats,
KEOM amazingly showed an increased in Myna Birds 2-14, Parakeets 3-7,and common sparrows 1-2 or until devoured by a straycat or shot by a kids bbgun. Daschunds 4-5 made a showing,as well.

...except the 2-4 Blue Jays dropped heavily. The insect raitings came out yesterday with a strong showing of 1-3 crickets for WBAP. 2-4 Ladybug cume for KEOM rose sharply to an all time high of 1,000. In the reptile department, overall KRLD saw huge gains of 4-7 rattlesnakes, and KDMX showed a mixed bag of 3-5 frogs. 5-6 Alligators dominated KDBN's numbers severely.

The flood numbers come out tomorrow, where washouts are predicted for what now occupies 107.5 FM.

sorry the ants were embargoed. Some fire ant was promoting the ratings period to his queen.

I live in Columbus Ohio and I just about rolled on the floor when I read this post. I think this might be the funniest post ever on radio-info.

What about KTYS? I heard that the Wolf's ate em up with a 4-8 increase....lol!

WRR has picked up in tadpoles 2-4 weeks, but dropped in Frogs 1-2 months
KZPS is steady with amardillos 3 -7 months, with those on the shoulder of farm to market roads not available to be measured. KISS and K104 are tied with Ravens 3-8 months but drop significantly in Mockingbirds 8-9 months
KRLD has improved middays in house mites 2-9 hours, and common Houseflies 7-8 weeks

"Movin" dropped a lot with slugs 3-5 weeks, and cardnals 2-3 months. Whooping Crane were hard to measure due to the migratory season plus theirsearch for a better format ,but they showed a decline during the day parts 2-7 years

Kplex,

I mentioned these Arbitron estimates to my mom this morning, and she wanted to know the listenership among cats. I seem to have misplaced my copy of the book, but IIRC it said the numbers were fairly good. Can you confirm that for me?

Thanks!

Best thread/collection of posts EVER!....

I don't know enough about the stations in the market yet to participate, but if someone could tell me the numbers for 18-49 Calico Cats from M-F 4 to 7, I sure would appreciate it.

Robert ,Jon its like this ; 1 year of Human Life equals 7 for a cat(under normal habitat conditions, 8 for dogs)that being said, the "demos "are based on human measurement for advertisers like Ralston- Purina,Petsmart, etc.
So Jon the breakdowns you requested can not be measured, unless of course you include those taken to a taxidermy.
Robert the Cat ratio is broken down to exotic (Persian,Siamese,Max,etc) to North American Domestics (strays)
KEOM leads well in "North American Domestics" 3-5 especially during football and basketball coverage,"Star date "seems to be the most popular with Calicos 3-7."The Recipe File" is is waaaay up among all groups of Cats plus Dogs.Traffic reports are waay up with North American Domestics as well.
Jon you are doing well with "silver and orange" tabby cats 27 and Golden Retrievers 2-9.

You really are focusing on demos that are too narrow. It would be better to do trending on the overview based on mamals, amphibians, reptiles and insects to see the full changes in the market. It is conceivable that the heritage cume among dinosaurs should be analyzed as well, but only on 55+ and older demos.

 ??? ::) David said that? SHAZAAM!!

Dinosaurs are not a group that advertisers seek therefore they are not included, too niche of an audience, and the preference is for radios with vacuum tubes and rotary dialed telephones. The category"Mammals" is too broad, because that would include humans and since specifity is called for in regards to pets and wildlife, the current groups were created. Amphibians likewise have been relegated to the smaller demographic due to their ever changing nature ( tadpoles-Frogs) ,thus their tastes and lifestyles are too fluid . Turtles and Tortoises are too slow in responding to format, changes, focus groups, and they have been subjigated to the Dinosaur group, though not technically Dinosaurs themselves.
Mice, rats, gerbils and other rodents were throughly unrepsonsive, but reports have been coming in that the Rats Like Sean and Rush.
Rabbits appear to like Hip-hop stations in the 2-7 catagory.
We'll keep you posted.

Amoebas( I am glad you asked that question) seem to go for the "American Idol"type formats like Kiss,.They are used to the fabrication of music, and associate with that rather well.On the other hand they quickly slide over to NPR at times. Amoebas are nortorious for splitting the difference between the two. What might be loss for onew is a gain for another on a short time basis and if you do the math, you will see thois gain multiply at times. Bacteria is embargoed at this time due to so many stations offering free immunizations.

KSCS and The Wolf BTW showed an increase in snakes 3-5 years and lizards 4-9, and this was attributed to Justin Boot Promotion carried on both stations at different times. WRR was holding steady with Swans 2-9. KVIL lost in domestic animals all together but came out strong in Cackles 1-6. JACK lost in tropical fish1-2 weeks, but maintained when it came to algae 4-9 weeks.
