Has WPBQ been on the air in the last three months?
They showed up in the Arbitrends released yesterday.
I remember in 1979, WJXN AM was off the air during the entire May Arbitron "sweep" (Easter Flood) and
showed up with a 4 or so share. They re-issued the book. (One book a year back then..May)

I remember that. The whole radio station went under water. Just the tower sticking up. I've alway's wondered, did they get any of the studio and transmitter equipment out of the building before it went under?

Is WPBQ gone for good? its been off the air for quite a while now.

Here's a little something that'll make you laugh and again make you want to cry that the futures of people in our business is determined by the capable (lol) hands of Arbitron. In the Spring book there were many unexplainable ripples, one of which had Mix 98.7 with an 8 or 9 share across the board with Men 12-24, while Rock 93.9 had about a 1.9 share in the same demo. True reading? Hell no, not on ANY day. Sometimes the ripple goes your way and you get to enjoy it, but in most cases it's not in your favor and you just have eat it and hope your company sees through it.

maybe a bunch of soccer moms are hauling their 12 and up boys around in the mini van while listening to 98.7. BTW. Why does "Red Red Wine" by UB 40 still get so much airplay. That song stank when it came out and it still stinks. If I had to play that song 10 times a day I'd pull my hair out. same goes for "from a distance", and "Wind beneath my Wings" bleeeech!

UB40's version not floating your boat? Maybe you'd like to hear the original Neil Diamond track? Roy Drusky's country version? Or the Charles Mann version, which I occasionally catch on the swamp pop stations here in Looziana.

C'mon Fly, you know it's a research thing...Red Red tests really well with (any guesses?)----FEMALES. I am a betting man and I'll wager that you're not transporting kids in a minivan to any soccer games/translation, more testosterone flowing through your veins than estrogen. As for UB40 or Bette, they spin not even once per day and From a Distance isnt on the playlist. Jus sayin

All these "Doctors" make me nervous, but Neil Diamond's version goes pretty well on my ipod. And Neil don't drive no mini-van,ya know?

Gotta quit meeting in so many places Tim. Seriously doubt if Neil drives anywhere. Guess I'l be bustin out his greatest hits disc today. Yall have a good weekend and good radio!

They actually managed to salvage the Ampro consoles and a few other peices of gear. Billy Harris told me he used several cans of WD-40 to get the moisture out of the equipment. They did have to replace the transmitter - 1450 was the first AM in town to use a solid-state AM transmitter IIRC.

This is a problem with the PPM. It measures radio proximity...not listening. If 10 teens with PPMs spend
an hour near a radio playing Adult Standards...in a store or mini van, for example, that station will get credit for 40
quarter hours of teen "listening".
