Arbitron sent me $1 today

For the second time in a year I've been contacted by Arbitron. Last time to participate in a ratings survey. Today they sent me an advance token of their appreciation to "possibly" participate in another survey. I found this funny. I can understand them sending money to people who have already participated in a survey. They sent me $10 last time. But what's up with them sending people cash for only "possibly" helping them out in the future? Also... is it common for them to contact the same houshold repeatedly? The twice in one year thing has me surprised. Maybe I'm just lucky. ;D

Wow. WSAR should have a great book if you're participating. ;D ;D ;D

Oh you think? LOL. WSAR wouldn't know what a great book is and I honestly don't think they even care. Here is an actual conversation that took place when I was hired to work there.

Me: So what are the ratings like here?

PD: Well we really don't pay much attention to ratings around here.

I was contacted by them a few weeks ago and got the dollar with a letter saying they would be contacting me for a survey. A week or so later I got the call from them, and about a week after the call I got another letter thanking me with $2 enclosed.

Not bad, I got $3 for opinions I can express here for no compensation.

did they say it was a token, gift, or otherwise with out encumbrance?

How they nail people for fraud is the fine print. You took money and failed to provide an honest service because you work in the market/field. Don't they ask you if you work in the business or have a family member that does?

Before I came out of radio retirement in 2004, I got diaries, and I made sure all my favorite shows and stations got filled in. I might not have been 100% accurate or truthful lol!

I received a Nielsen radio survey in the mail down in florida a few years ago...i thought arbitron was the only one that sent out radio surveys..and i didn't get paid

I've received both surveys before. Both Neilsen and Arbitron. I got paid both times. This latest letter I received gave me a dollar and they described it like this. I have the letter in front of me now. I'm not in the mood to scan it in. So I will just type the entire letter here.

Dear John,

LOL.... I kept the dollar on my desk for about 4 days. Then I finally put it in my wallet yesterday. About 5 hours later I spent it on a Powerball ticket and lost. So yeah.... thanks Arbitron. I wasted your money on a silly piece of paper. Damn lottery is the dumbest thing on the planet unless you win. ;D
