Are 1998-2003 broadcasts of American Top 40 with Casey Kasem gone forever? Or were they hidden somewhere all along?

My curiosity is why the American Top 40 with Shadoe Stevens series wasn't transferred to AMFM Radio Networks if the other elements of American Top 40 were. Maybe it had something to do with Shadoe Stevens or some kind of exception.

They will run guest-hosted episodes; the programs offered to terrestrial stations typically do not.
True. Usually on the Thursday Wheel of Casey, sometimes on Saturday though. I've caught Dave Hull (the very first guest host, introduced by Don Bastani), Robert W Morgan, Mark Elliot to name the ones I remember. Terrestrial did offer Dick Clark and Gary Owens after both pf their passing

My SXM AT40 broadcast knowledge is a little rusty but I I believe SiriusXM 70s on 7 only airs guest hosted AT40 70s shows on the Wheel of Casey block. I'm not sure if they have played any guest hosted during the weekend.

Premiere Networks does occasionally offer guest hosted shows to terrestrial stations. They are optional shows and they really only air them once right after a featured guest host pass away. Examples include Dick Clark, Mark Elliott and Gary Owens.
They do indeed air Casey-hosted AND guest-hosted episodes on "Wheel of Casey." You are correct about the offerings to terrestrial stations. They only seem to get any guest-hosted shows right after that guest host passes away. I remember one of them being an "extra" program on Memorial Day, I think.

Did Kasem own his broadcasts?
No. When he started, he was an employee of Tom Rounds' and Ron Jacobs' company. He reportedly got a share of the revenue, but not ownership. The info on that is rather vague.

They used a Larry McKay-hosted episode Labor Day weekend. I thought there was one more guest-hosted Saturday show in 2023 fairly close to that but I don't recall who.

All he wanted was to see those pictures Don promised him….and no uptempo records before a death dedication.
That's the letter U and the numeral 2!

(I initially embedded the Negativland sound collage with that blooper and forgot how extremely NSFW it is 😬)
