Are All NM Stations Adding HD Radio?

I saw a Star 96.7 billboard at US-30 and 80th Avenue in Frankfort which included a prominent HD Radio logo. I checked with one radio of mine that is extraordinarily sensitive to IBOC and sure enough... WSSR added HD Radio.

Does anyone know if WRXQ, WCCQ, and the other NM stations in the cluster are being fitted with HD Radio in the near future? It's apparently not as expensive to implement as I anticipated. WDCB Glen Ellyn even added HD Radio (along with RDS).

WERV The River is in HD. There is an article in the Naperville Sun today talking about it.

I believe 95.9 The River was the first NM station in the area to add HD Radio.

I wonder if they'll bother adding it to 1340 WJOL...

Actually, I think Star 96.7 was on the air with HD before The River was.

Hey, I'm just going off of the e-mails I've exchanged with NM's chief engineer, but if you've got more accurate info, more power to you!

Tim...I know you worked for me in the engineering dept. at NextMedia South. You also worked for the current Engineer there who put on the HD, correct?

Not for nothing, but Mr. Messer is pretty well connected to the engineering dept. at NM, so if he says that 'SSR was on first, I'm inclined to believe him.<P ID="signature">______________

That's correct.

I wasn't available to help the engineer put HD on the air at Star or The River, but I do have an e-mail from May 27 saying that Star went on the air that day, and an earlier e-mail saying Star would be getting an HD transmitter, followed by The River.

I suppose it's possible that Star wasn't broadcasting in HD right when the new transmitter was fired up, but I heard nothing about that, and I don't own an HD receiver (yet!).

Radio Doc is right, Tim does know what he's talking about.
Star was the first with HD, and the River soon followed.
As for HD plans, I know more of the stations here at NM will be
getting HD xmitters, however I haven't heard the order in which
stations will go on line and IF all 4 will go.

Is there a reason NM is pulling RDS from each station where IBOC has been added? RDS and HD Radio do not interfere with one another, and it can allow artist/title info to be displayed on far more receivers today (and over the next couple years) than the HD Radio feed alone. Even without artist/title info, having the station moniker on a radio's display gives identity to what would otherwise be a number.

Most of our stations do have a small blurb on the RDS, which just
gives the station calls. As for the Title and Artist info, from
what I understand, and I have no control over it, just hasn't be set. Most likely, because we have one engineer, doing the work to keep 5 stations on the air, and all of the extra work that goes with that job. I've talked to
our engineer about it in a "what if" sort of way, and he wants to
do that too, its just that he has a lot of higher prority situations
to get to first.

That's cool and fully understandable. I was asking because RDS disappeared from 95-9 The River, 'RXQ and a third station which eludes me at the moment.
