I was just thinking that the pirates would be the way to reach the inner city voters.

i heard Menino ads on 101.3 BIg City, 102.9 Choice, and 106.1 Touch

i suspect they were on 105.3 but i didnt listen enough

These pirates have clearly been on the air for years. If the FCC doesn't want to enforce the law, then I don't fault anybody for doing business with them.

I dislike Menino for reasons other than buying "illegal" airtime.

Interesting question.

Do operators of pirate stations accept checks for advertising?

Do operators of pirate stations keep accounting records?

Running political ads for candidates strikes me as a "dicey" bit of business to deal with. The FCC may think they have 'bigger fish to fry' so they don't devote much energy to removing pirates from the airwaves, so pirate broadcasters have a comfort level continuing and expanding their operations.

Will the Federal Election Commission also pretend that pirate broadcasting does not exist? Or will they show up with some aggressive behavior?

I am not familiar with the candidates mentioned in previous messages. I assume they are running for local office rather than a federal position, so maybe the "coast in clear" for the time being.

I know pirates are known to run ads for dj's spinning in nightclubs and where the next party is at. But that shows you nobody is gonna do anything about these illegal stations if a political candidate is airing his ad on these kind of stations. You have to wonder if he's aware of this, but the broadcasters and himself are on making an "under the radar" deal.

Do we have proof these are legitimate commercials? How we know the operators of these pirate stations aren't stealing the ads of their favorite candidates off of real radio stations? After all they are stealing the airwaves.
I dont think so. I know the Mayor of Boston has been on the air at Touch 106.
