Are Changes Coming To KLIF?

Rush was indeed on 1190. When they lost the franchise to WBAP, the GM of 1190 got on the air bagging EFM Media for stripping the show from his station
(EFM was the syndicator before Premier took over....EIB is a El Rushbo creation).

Jim Fisher from Cumulus has been brought in to oversee KLIF as APD.

Christmas is just around the corner and Cumulus LOVES to give itself early Christmas presents - in the form of lay-offs. The folks at the former Susquehanna stations better watch out - Christmas time lay-offs are Cumulus' m.o. ;)

No they wait until Clear Channels "End of november sweeps" lay off festival, until they have their own.

Ankarlo will be gone in 30 days. You heard it here first.

His last day will be Nov. 17. The Ticket's Gordon Keith broke the news this morning....

said he was going to KTAR Phoenix......

Am I sad about this development, not really. Ankarlo hasnt done anything decent while he's been in the market. His schtick is always either "Support the troops" since his son is in the millitary or jumping down someones throat because he thought they were some sort of borderline commie. I, for one, am glad he's leaving the market.

Interesting that so many believe that bringng back the old crew (McCarthy, Gold, Bob Ray) would put KLIF back in the fight.

Actually that is not a terrible idea. Bob Ray though, doesn't want to do radio. He prefers the safe confines of KERA TV.

I THINK KEVIN AND DAVID MAY BE TO BITTER TO GO BACK..

Actually, over on Dallas Digest.com (Kevin's forum) he says he called Dan Bennett and proposed the idea to him. Bennett didn't return Kevin's phone call.

Here's Kevin's quote... "klif could do and probably will do a lot worse than putting me on mornings and gold on afternoons right now..but, bennett has this mantra about "never going back"...i called him when i found out that greg knapp was leaving and left a message saying "you don't have to go back---you can make a new start going forward with people who give you the best chance to succeed"...

he never returned my call...

Bennett has the slogan "never go back" just when it fits his needs. He has hired back the same sales managers on many different occasions. His KLIF sales manager and his BONE sales are just two examples of people he fired and said he would never hire back. Whatever is easiest for him.

What a shame - I used to think Bennett was one of the good guys in radio.

Yeah let's not go back and admit to a mistake. GM's and their big PHAT EGOS. ::)

Would be great to see Kev back.

Yes, it would, but it would have to be on his terms. And with the place in obvious turmoil now, the time isn't right.

I'm inclined to think that Kevin's question for Bennett was meant to evoke what would have been a predictable response. Of course, you could say that about the lack of a response, too.
