Are elderly people contributing to EMF?

I can neither prove or disprove that EMF specifically targets the elderly, but I strongly suspect that for some who are largely home-bound, that music may be the only "companion" they have and might contribute more than they can really afford. I doubt EMF has any process to tell if that is the case with any donation, or even if there's any real way for them to, but I can easily see how it could happen.

And I still think God doesn't need that many transmitters.

Usually it is the same who slammed EMF for acquiring stations and then saying their 'preachers' were sucking money out of old people on limited incomes. Such was a pretty stupid comment given EMF is 100% music with zero preachers and not targeting the elderly.

An old boss said you win people over by telling your story. When you cut down, you don't bring anyone to your side. If you have to criticize, what you offer must not be that great.
I would think it would be BBN. Although the organist/choir director at my church is in her 70s and she does listen to K-Love.

The posts didn't appear where I wanted them to.

The thread I am responding to was already way off topic.

I know the target is 25 to 49 Females. There will always be a few 'outliers' under 25 and 50 and up that listen and may contribute.

The thing with EMF is they don't do underwriting but with their clout, I'd imagine they are taking a percentage of income from the concerts and events they sponsor. I can't say that is happening. Otherwise being listener supported without all the other revenue possibilities certainly says they are wanted and popular. I'd challenge any other music format to pull off what they do only on listener donations.

I'm sure EMF's goal is to be received at every spot in the USA at this point.

They don't do "traditional underwriting" but I do understand that they receive "donations" for some of the promotional opportunities they partner with on air.

Yes, their goal at this point is to be pretty much everywhere in the US - With that said their current target is to 'fill in' the remaining sizeable cities they don't currently serve with a full power signal such as St Louis, Mo.

Underwriting is announcements for organizations and businesses acknowledging their donation to the station in exchange for on air announcements. They are clearly identified by law. A listener or group may partner with EMF with a matching fund without having to be acknowledged since they get no on air credit. I have actually wondered if some of those conditional 'grants' are fictional since during fundraising there is always a 'we need x dollars donated his hour for your donations to be doubled by our grant giver'. They say if they 'miss the mark' the grant dollars are gone.

I'm not sure many elderly would care for the format. I understand a good number of their listeners are simply 'spiritual' and not church goers.

If I had read your comment 20 years ago, I probably would have agreed with you. But time marches on, and the people who were considered elderly 20 years ago are now being depleted rather quickly, and many people who were middle-aged then are considered to be elderly now. For these reasons, I don't really think that most of today's elderly folks are turned off by the K-Love music unless they are turned off by the network and its philosophy...

In fact, given what I've just pointed out, I'm willing to bet that the music played on BBN doesn't really appeal very much to today's elderly, and I'm guessing that that network, as well as a few others that rely on that kind of music, may be in trouble when it comes to donations...

The theory I've proposed could also explain why groups like Family Life Radio and even American Family Radio are playing more music that sounds like what you hear on K-Love than they used to...
