Are Fewer Folks Listening to Radio

It seems to me that there are a lot fewer listeners to commercial radio these days. With all the choices out there to provide us music, news, talk, etc, why would anyone listen to radio with all those commercials? I know I listen to it much less than I did 10 yrs ago and wondered what you folks think.

Agree FRR. My local OTA listening is limited to the time spent driving my little pickup truck which has only AM/FM (and that is probably less than 1/2 hour per week). My other car has all the bells and whistles but I listen almost exclusively to my flash stick. If I listen to "radio" at home it is while I am doing something else on my computer and then it is an out of market stream (but usually a real radio station - lately it has been BIG 103.7 from S.F.).

Depends on your age. Radio stations for the most part change their music to continue to reach people who are at the same age you were ten years ago. So as you get older, you find the station you used to listen to is doing things that doesn't appeal to you any more. But a new crew of people are now listening. Nationally speaking, more people are listening to FM radio now than 10 years ago, even with all the choices.

What is that number as a percentage of the total population? We have gained significant population over the past decade so it is a natural progression that more people are doing whatever than 10 years ago.

92%. The percentage has held steady, but you're right, because of increased population, the numbers have increased.
