Are new calls in the works for 97.5?

Wouldn't make much since to remain KFNC while running ESPN sports....
Besides, if nothing else, Cumulus is great at switching call letters constantly to match the format of the moment.

I dunno, I think the FNC would still fit... Freakin' No Cume!

I think this is like the 3rd or 4th post about this, but once again for the record, nobody really cares about what the callsign is.

I hear from a very reliable source (my dog) that the call letters will indeed be changed. They will be changed to KNOL, which we all know stands for No Ones Listening.

The call letters KDOA are available. Self explanatory. KACF, "Another Cumulus [EDIT]" or "Another Cumulus Failure". KAWF, "Another Wasted Frequency". KBTB, "Back to Beaumont", which would make the most sense for 97.5 and return the station to Beaumont. KSRB "Sports Radio - Beaumont". Or how about KIKR "Kick Ass Sports Radio for The Triangle"? If 1450 is going to a Spanish language format the call letters are not important. All the call letters are waiting for the taking. So is KLDE as of Friday.

KNOC....No One Cares ?? :) hehehehe
I seriously wonder WHY 1450 kept the KIKR call sign...it was there from when Charlie Pride's group owned the station and it was C&W....(we play both types of music; Country and Western ;) and it is still calling itself the Ticket...seems kinda dumb to have your ex FM sister station call itself the same moniker yet different call and different sports feed....what WILL Cumulus do with 1450 now? (It barely covers BEAUMONT...last time I listened to it, I heard interference on it within the city limits at sundown...this is ridiculous! It should cover to Port Arthur (25+ miles away)....KRCM covers better with its measly 97watts into its crummy tower than 1450 does with its 1000watts!!!

Um...obviously I do. You know newschoolrocker, some of us radio geeks actually appreciate the heritage that is associated with the some of the vintage Houston calls. Although KFNC isn't one of them, it would be great to see some broadcasters actually care about the calls that are associated with their station. Of all people, I would've thought you would understand that, considering your beloved KLOL hasn't rocked an ass in about 26 months now. Or for our neighbors to the north "The Eagle" has been dead for just as long, yet KEGL lives on. Absolutely ignorant. How about one from my neck of the woods? 1090 KNUZ. KNUZ has never had any association with Austin County, the calls don't belong anywhere besides 1230 AM in Houston. Oh, but wait. Another set of vintage calls (KQUE) lay there, having nothing to do with the format that the calls occupied for about 40 some odd years. There is no respect for the heritage of the industry, and it started with the nonchalant attitude that you portrayed above. Sorry if I sound snippy, NSR, I just despise the lack of respect that broadcasters have shown most of the Houston properties over the last decade or so.
