Actually, I was wishing they WEREN'T coming to Atlanta.
Why is it people have to bag on O&A? If you don;t like them you do not have to listen. I would love for them to come here and they would easily double the morning show ratings at Dave. Look at what they have done at some of the other stations doubled, even tripled the ratings. What do you listen to tcsnrayp?

Almost thier whole show is NYC-centric.
If Glenn Beck couldn't cut it ( 'putting the radio back in radio city...' ) I can't see how these 2 can.
At least TRG know about local issues and use bits that only people here are gonna get.
Opie and Anthony would work about as well as Bob and Tom.
Sorry pal, you are wrong! This town is full of NYC/Boston transplants. I 've seen WOW stickers in Atlanta. There show may be somewhat skewed to NYC, but with Anothony's impressions and Jim Norton on the show they would kill here. Not sure what 7 or 8 times you heard, but they are not Howard Stern Lite. I used to listen to them daily (syndication underground) and they are funny. If you don't like them, do not listen. I'm sure the majority of curmudgeons that post here will not listenl. I still believe they are far better than anything in this market. I listen to the Regular Guys everyday and the only talented one there is Porn Czar.

Sorry, but Jim Norton SUCKS. He couldn't get it done that horrible 'last comic standing show'. Take away the sentence 'suck my d*ck', and he is as lame as the korean dude that actually WON that show.
Plus, MTV canned him, too. He was horrible on tough crowd everytime I saw him.
He used to come into 680 whenever he was at some godawful comedy place and each and everytime he was on the air, he blew. badly.
Patrice has potential, but if he is not doing 'race humor', then he has no material at all.But the guy is funny, I will give you that.
TRG are by far more intellectually funnier then O and A. Fuhhgettaboutit
Only problem here is O&A does not fit the current Dave audience profile. They can add them but they would need to re-position the rest of the station into something other than Dave. Why do I get the impression they are not the John Mayer and Dave Matthews crowd that Dave incessantly plays.

Can a Bostonian give an opinion on this? I do want to say first that I listen to them (here in Boston) and think they can be very funny. And like any Shock Jocks, they push the envelope quite a bit. If they do start to do something that just doesn't appeal to me, I put on something else. but for the most part, I listen.
As far as being Howard-lite? I agree with that. One thing that bugs me is this "fued" that's going on between them. And from what I've heard O & A say themselves, Howard screwed them and tried to keep them down. But they go on saying how they don't like Howard, and they don't want to be Howard Part II, but they are. The O & A "Pests" are just an incarnation of Melrose Larry Green and Captain Jenks calling people and saying "BA BA BOOEYS TEETH!". it's the same idea.
This isn't to bash O & A, because as I said I like them, and Anthony's impressions are fantastic, but it's the truth.

I live in Atlanta, and I still found the "nazi vs. n----" taxi cab bit hillarious. It didn't matter what city they were in, because the idea was if a taxi cab driver would rather pick up a nazi over an African gentleman. I don't think that's something you have to live in a specific city to understand.
I see you're defending local talent, but you're also calling Opie and Anthony "Howard lite," which displays a favoritism towards Howard Stern. Odd since he's never been on here.
Really though, the only way I find their show NYC-centric is when they bring up their studio location in passing, when they talk about the news and they list the sources from local papers, and maybe when they bring up sports. Still, I couldn't care less. I laugh at that show all the time. Sometimes they do bring up NYC related issues, but most of the time they'd be stupid NOT to bring it up, like the crotchety old man who smeared feces in a girl's hair, and later the crazy dual-saw homeless guy, only to be followed by the guy who blew up his building to commit suicide. New York is just a very "interesting" city sometimes. And they do balance it out with local stories from other cities. I don't care where a show originates from as long as I'm entertained by it. It's hard for me to picture someone laughing at their radio, only to stop and think "Wait a minute, where's this show broadcasting from? If it's not from here then I won't find it as good."
BTW, national Sean Hannity is still kicking the ass of local Kim Peterson.

Ron and Fez would be awesome too! I used to listen to the Ron&Ron show out of Tampa back in the early 90's. Ron Bennington, Ron Diaz, Fez Whatley, Fast Eddie and Flipper. They were awesome. I would take either over what we have here. I like TRG, but it seems 75% of the show is the news. Glad to hear somebody else that would appreciate O&A or R&F in Atlanta. This board is full of naysayers and I agree with insideradio, this town is full of Nancy boys.

so why has Atlanta never had Stern or O&A? is it excessive religious influence? Memphis had Stern, and there's a lot of religious people there... having lived around, I do think there's a bit of difference between religious influence in most of the South and in SC/GA/AL/MS, all of which seem to be in a different zone entirely, an excessively rigid fundamentalist one.. I actually laughed out loud when driving thru Greeneville SC and hearing Nelly's "Hot in Herre," which had the entire line "I wanna take my clothes off" removed. And I heard a radio station in Birmingham that played a heavily bleeped version of Black-Eyed Peas' "My Humps." Unreal.

I agree...Stern was never here for that reason. Z93 at the time felt they would'nt be able to sell Stern's show. I think intially they would've taken a hit, but would've won in the long run. I think it's a different mindset now though. I think O and A would win here quickly. CBS is working on it... there is too much revenue to be had in this market, and Barnes just isn't gettin it done. I love Dave's reasoning behind lack of ratings: "Our high end listeners just don't have time to fill out diaries." ;D
