ARE SUB-CHANNELS FINALLY GETTING THEIR RECOGNITION

I would like to see Fox do a headline news type of sub-channel for its affiliates.
...most Fox affiliates not owned by NewsCorp don't want to be associated with Fascist Noise Channel. I spoke to one of the anchors for the newscast at KMSB/v11, the Tucson Fox affiliate (owned by Belo), and he told me that whenever he covers a story he simply refers to "Channel 11 News" rather than "Fox 11," so that people don't assume he's working for Roger Ailes' propaganda machine. I've heard the same from news personnel from other affiliates (Raycom's WBRC/v6 Birmingham, Local's WITI/v6 Milwaukee, LIN's WLUK/11 Green Bay, Grant's WLAX/v25 La Crosse). Only Fox O&Os would carry the thing, I'm sure...

That's hardly indicative of the views of "most" Fox affiliates. I was suggesting Fox because they have the resources to put something like that together in a relatively inexpensive way. I suppose CBS could, but I think it would be more difficult for them since they're not running a 24 hour news channel already.

By the way, FNC stands for Fox News Channel. Look @ their ratings compared to MSNBC and CNN. FNC usually beats both put together!
...big deal. That's like one company claiming it's the best-selling buggy whip in the world. The ratings for all three can't suck enough...

...but CBS' partner in The CW, TimeWarner, is operating CNN and CNN International. A simpler way to go about it would be for CNN International to be offered to CW affiliates or co-owned stations as a sub-channel. At least CNN International doesn't have the stink of propaganda that Rupert Murdoch's crap does...

Man it says something good for the power of Fox News Channel's marketing when someone can refer to it as "Fascist Noise Channel" and (most) people are still pretty sure that guy's referring to Fox News Channel. That is some branding right there! :)
...yeah, right. Who's next for your praise of branding? Al Capone? Mao Tse-Tung? O.J. Simpson?...

Nope. CNN international cannot be offered over the air unless CNN wants to take it off cable and forego millions in subscriber fees. That would be true of any cable network you might suggest. Furthermore, just because they are partners in CW does not mean they have any common ownership or infrastructure that would make starting a news channel "simpler."

Now there you go getting all logical, accurate and factual. ;)

Details, details. :D

...then what the hell makes you think NewsCrap does? Past Billo the Clown, Slanthead and their hangers-on, The Alien has nothing to offer your concept......

What value? Here in Phoenix, most of the subchannels are worthless. Weather, religion, and infomercials (English and Spanish) for the most part, including all the LPTV/Class A stations except for KAZT, which has RTV on 7.2. The only other subchannels worth watching are ThisTV on KTVK 3.2 and PBS World on KAET 8.3.

KSAZ/10 (Fox) and KASW/61 (CW) don't have any subchannels and no plans to start them - at least I haven't heard of any.

What he said.

A technicality but channel 45 does have a sub which simulcasts KSAZ/10 as 10.2 because 10.1 has such a lousy signal. 61's signal is pretty bad as well.

And if you want to really strain your eyeballs tune in to 44.4 and watch an old fuzzy western movie in all it's minimum bit-rate glory. I swear Lash LaRue had two eyes but in this movie he had only one. ???

Try being here in La-La Land...a couple of other posters and myself have mentioned that the glut of digital subchannels here are mostly foreign. I have DirecTV, but I do switch over to the rabbit ears from time to time to shake up my programming needs. To me, the only programming worth a damn are Antenna TV and a couple of the PBS subs (like World). Among the rest of the them are lifestyles (Live Well and Ion Life), weather (NBC Plus), the Godcasters (TBN and at least three Spanish subs), and other general entertainment Spanish networks. Unless I spoke Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, or Japanese, or sadly these channels are of no use to me, although I don't mind looking at scantly-clad women on Univision and Estrella TV every now and then ;D.

If CBS follows through with their plan of launching subchannels (as mentioned in another thread), I would love to see them have a classics channel featuring stuff from their own library.

At least in Chicago, the only subchannels I like are: Antenna TV from Tribune, MeToo from Weigel, & is the Chicago MeTV (don't care too much for the national MeTV), WTTW Prime (WTTW's 24 hour prime time program channel), Create, & U Too from Weigel. Universal Sports, Livewell Network (except for Motion & Advice For Life), Ion Life, V-Me (don't understand Spanish), Chicago Nonstop, This TV (most of the time), MeTV, & the simulcasts from WYCC, Livewell Network,WYIN, & WXFT on subchannels are garbage.

This I'm just lost on... Who at FNC is it (the author) refering to?

I haven't a clue either. Let's chalk this up to when hyperbole goes from wrong to just plain stupid.

Glad I'm in Philly where WTXF is Fox O&O! By the way, FNC stands for Fox News Channel. Look @ their ratings compared to MSNBC and CNN. FNC usually beats both put together!

Mostly because Fox Nuisance Channel viewers like to live in their own fantasy land, where anchors tell them what they want to hear, rather than what's really going on. If they did straight news rather than propaganda, they'd have far fewer viewers. Sorry, but all the viewers in the world won't buy absolute credibility.

I don't even consider them to be a news channel. FNC is a total joke as far as so-called news product is concerned. All it does is prove that P.T. Barnum was right.

Chicago also has Chicago also Chicago Land a 24/7 Local News Channel. Theirs also the Cool TV/The Country Network/Untamed Sports/My Family Net/Mexicanol TV/ACCUWEATHER Channel and so on. CBS had a News Channel. Fox had Fox News Edge. ABC News One use to eb out their so did CNNFN before it got canned.
What should CBS add a Comedy Channel? A Reality Channel? A Home Improvement Channel? A Movie Channel? A World Channel?
The problem is in KC of the Major Channels This TV/MoreTV/Antenna TV and KSHB Action Weather Plus. Metro Weather and Sports don't count because not on all systems in KC area.
