Are The Format Changes Just Beginning??

101.9 isn't going to go classical on the Cape. WFCC is already there.

And like another poster said, why would Quantum sell it anyway?

personally i think wbz am should move to 104.1 and have the am either simulcast or go to CBS sports network and leave fox sports overnight on the sports hub, unless cc has other plans for am 1200.

Doesn't matter what you think. These are properties with millions of billing tied up in them. Formats are changed based on business.

WTKK had to be hemorrhaging money in order for GM to continue to pay out contracts and put on a different format.

It does have some Sun afternoon games from Compass..2 wks ago they had same game as 98.5, which was behind them about 25 sec. Had 1 pm Falcons game last Sun

Yesterday "Kool 101" in SE Connecticut flipped to something called "Roxy" (hot AC). Though I question the longevity of this format since there's still no website for the station 24 hours after the launch.

I was listening Sunday and heard the start of the game on 1200. I switch back later and heard a comedy bit. I thought the game must have been taken off, but later I heard the game. A little bit after that I heard another comedy segment. Was 1200 running comedy in place of commercials?

How's about this? Clear Channel sells Kiss 108 to a local religious group that blows the format up and turns it into a place for the Traditional Latin Mass and old Catholic teachings. (Not a chance!)
CC blows up Jmn945 and replaces it with Spanish variety! (It could happen.)
101.7 The Harbor reverts back to WFNX. (Hmm...)
I definitely think that 96.9 News Talk will become the 4th. CHR format in Boston on New Year's Day! (How about them apples?)
And of course, WBZ will break off news on Christmas Eve to present 24 hours of Christmas music hosted by Gary Lapierre. (You wish!)

Ha....or revert 107.9 to country or beautiful music as it used to be (etc.)!

The ironic thing about CC's the Harbor is how Mindich's WFNX was a great home for alternative rock music, local bands, etc.; so word comes they're being sold. Now, the alt-weekly Bos. Phoenix
loves stuff like the Occupy Movement--yeah, big corporations are eeeeeeeeeeeevil. So whom
does Mindich sell to?

Clear Channel. Seriously...for 14.5 million pieces of paper with George Washington on them. The
rumors fly about an FM home for 1200--the ultimate irony! One day it's WFNX, the next it's
Rush and Hannity (and we were believing it just could be, unless it were Spanish, or...) So
instead it turns out to be narrowly focused, narrow playlist so-called variety rock. One of
those "we play anything" stations with no DJs (sorry, no jobs for you); except that it doesn't
REALLY have variety after all. No occasional Tony Bennett or rarely heard one-hit wonders.
No mixing in Buddy Guy or Garth Brooks or novelty songs. Nope, Bon Jovi, U2, Cars, Huey
Lewis, Pat Benatar, Cheap Trick...but of course nothing too soft. Vanilla, French Vanilla,
and maybe chocolate chip. (On the Just Played list I did note a Donna Summer tune and
one by Tone-Loc, true, but still vastly outnumbered by a lot of mostly 80s, 90s rock. So
okay, maybe a wee bit of chocolate ice cream too.)

But at least if they air Rush, it's a band from Toronto not a talk host from Missouri. And to
make back their investment and add some profit, they found a computer that could print money.

Anyway earlier in the year who could have forecast that Mindich would have sold the station
to Clear Channel? :) (And yes even I thought 1200 would stay talk till the elections at least.)
