ARE THE MARTIANS INTERFERING WITH EARTHLING AM SIGNALS?

since i'e been back in town i have noticed AM signals are really crappy. even the 50,000 watt clear channels. someone, and i know there are engineers out there, please explain to me why kdka sounds like kqv or 1360...is it telephone towers? ...OR THE MARTIANS JAMMING TALK SHOWS?.......having trouble plugging in my toaster, california.

I noticed that too. When I was living in Washington, PA and Charleroi. I couldn't even pick up KD, 1250, KQV, etc. Let along 970 that was fuzzy too.

Absolutely, I used to have an Accurian HD radio. I could not pick absolutely anything on AM from Washington, PA. Except for 540, which nobody over the age of 8 would enjoy. It was funny though, I used to get so pissed because stations like 96.1 kiss would kick in and out of HD, made it fun listening to HD2. But I could pick up Mix 98.9 and Hot 101 from Youngstown. lol

...although I do get a sense that the Martians always kind of had it in for Pintek....

Why did WKPA used to come rather clearly at night and now they are gone? Are they a daytimer again, or broadcasting at.013 watts directional to Ganymede after sunset. Why is Mars in Pa?

According to Radio-Locator, 1150 (now WGBN) is running 70 watts at night, directional.

The one I wonder about is 1510 Monroeville, which is licensed for ONE WATT at night. I'd have to drive to the tower site to see if they're actually using it.

I'm surprised they even have 1 watt when you consider WLAC. By the way, in the early 60's there were 4 applications for 1510. 250 watts for Monroeville, 1KW for Green Tree, 10KW for Ambridge and, 50,000 watts for Pittsburgh. The Commission gave it to Monroeville because it would be service to a community without an existing station. Go figure.

just an update on the martians....traveling on the turnpike from new stanton i should be able to pull in kdka when i go through the tunnel before somerset. no dice this time. just a hummmmmmmm....definitly something is different in the last year. when kdka kicked in around somerset headed west, it was barely audible. maybe those huge windmills, believed to be part of an alien plot, are the culprit? CALIFORNIA.

p.s. my radio is top of the line and checks out fine.....

I'm not sure about the Martians interfering with AM signals but I pretty sure they have taken over the U.S. government.

That take-over would be difficult if they looked like the giant squid in "War of the Worlds'. They must look like ordinary humans like Glenn Beck :-*

When WPSL 1510 signed on in 1964, WMBA was Monitoring us and complaining to the fcc about our Programing ,They wanted our Freq bad, even offered to trade 1460 for 1510. Mrs Thompson had to go to DC for FCC hearings Because of their complaints.Wilks Hurley was our Engineer and wanted to Increase power. But the Owners wanted nothing to do with the FCC after
those Hearings. I did not know about the Pittsburgh or Greentree Applications, Do you have more info on them?

I only know that the address given for the Pittsburgh application was a law office downtown.

Why were they complaining about PSL's programming?

WMBA claimed we were not serving the local area and did not deserve the License. They lost the case but it Soured the Owners from asking anything of the FCC, as it draged on for such a long time.

What really gets me steamed is 620. Used to be it covered Squirrel Hill and Oakland at night like it was a Pittsburgh station. Now it fades in and out even on a car radio. Since it plays my favorite music with fabulous DJ's, this signal issue is definitely an intergalactic conspiracy effort by Martians, residents of Europa, Ganymede, Remulak, and various stateless space pirates (little "p") with jammers on their mother ships.
