Are the rumors true?

Yup..I'm a homer all right, but I'll tell you guys flat out that Kris is a great guy, and has a hard row to hoe with making this format not only listenable, but topically contemporary. KOOL is not one of those stations trying to "be" 1969 radio..I really enjoy some of the lattitude I get as a voice guy, and Steve Goddard is, well one of a kind..and (IMHO) a perfect fit for KOOL. Mistakes are always made when re-building..I have a commode in our studio in Atlanta that was installed backwards when we rebuilt our place two years ago..Everyone in the building is scared of it.

Sometime mistakes are dwelled on, and successes are ignored.

I'll be selling tee-shirts with that quote on it at the Tempe "Wrangler Wranch Drive-In" flea market!

Steven -
You missed my point. I'm not saying they don't have a right to an opinion, everyone does. I'm suggesting that when a person uses their real name, as some do, their statement has a greater degree (to me) of credibility and certainly accountability.
And that too is an opinion and not a rule.
I appreciate your comment, and I'll bring mine to an end with this final reply on the matter.

Seems to me there is a bunch of over reaction on this thread.

Although the OP may have been a bit severe in his/her statement re: PD Kris this IS the place to put rumors to rest or validate them isn't it? Of course, it should be done with tact and politeness. And, in defense of the OP, there HAS been a lot of discussion re: KMLE and KOOL programming which wasn't all that complementary to the PD.

For those of us who don't have insight into the working conditions imposed on the PD I would suggest being a bit more reserved in posting criticism. On the other hand it IS valid to post opinions on the job he/she is doing. It is possible to criticize the job without criticizing the person.

For the record I think KOOL is one of the finest stations of its kind in the country (and I've been listening since the late 70's). IMHO it isn't as great as it once was and I can only speculate that the major reason is the very difficult financial situation of radio in general. Hopefully the radio recession will pass and we will once again be treated to a full spectrum of interesting personalities and the best oldies greatest hits of all time.

Thanks for the clarification. And, just for the record, I agree with you!

nothing wrong with a little rumor-mongering.  helps keep things interesting.  ::)  As for people using their real names, I think  a certain level of anonymity makes for a more lively discussion.  if we all used our real names, many of us who work in radio would be afraid to say anything the least bit negative or controversial, lest it affect our jobs. and that would make for a dull board.

I agree with testing however I am not in radio and I've never been in radio. When I signed up for this board, it asked for my username and I chose one, but for those that must know, my name is Rebecca Ferrante. I am a single mother of three, 39 years old, work for Bank of America, my blood type is O positive and I still think Mr. Abrams is a tool.

I saw your ex-husband's partner, Mr. Teicher, play the piano once.

David, you obviously don't believe me. What is the use in using my real name if nobody will believe you anyways? That's the whole problem isn't it? If you use a fake name, nobody thinks your credible. If you use your real name, nobody believes you. By the way, how do we know YOU are who you say you are?

And who do I say I am?

(I just have trouble matching your "insider" comments about KMLE with the wonderful profile you posted for yourself.)

And that is your problem, not mine. This post was started as an opinion of mine and a rumor that I had heard. Let me repeat that: an OPINION and a RUMOR. This is a discussion board where one can post their opinion, rumors, news and thoughts. That's what I did. Because I didn't post my real name, you and others dismissed my credibility. Believe what you want. I don't know if you've noticed or not, but I'm willing to bet that upwards of 80% of people on this board don't use their real names. Does that mean that they are not entitled to an opinion? When I did state my real name, once again you questioned it. So basically, because I stated something that you didn't agree with, you questioned my credibility and motives and accused me of being disgruntled. Quite frankly, I don't even care if you believe me or not. If you do, you do. If you don't, you don't. It's not my problem. Once again, it was an OPINION and a RUMOR. Lighten up. I'm sure we wouldn't even be having this conversation if I had posted something that you agree with.

I would like to reveal that *I* might also be Dave Pratt!  the person posting under the name Dave Pratt may not necessarily BE Dave Pratt, but could be Me.  I also have no connection with Dave Pratt, as far as you know.  Heck, I might be Kris Abrams, although that's not confirmable. I am not Dr. Akhbar. Or am I? I am definitely not David Eduardo, unless I might be. I hope this clears things up. where's my medication?

Sincerely,
Testing/Dave/Kris

I'm not even in radio, but know someone who is currently working in his building. I believe that Abrams has just been lucky with KOOL. As for KMLE, he killed it. Oh the stories I've heard....

This is quite a bit more than an "opinion" and a "rumor" that you'd heard. This is a claim of inside information that I'm frankly skeptical a non-radio Bank of America employee that has nothing to do with CBS Radio would have.

There's been quite a bit of turnover at CBS Radio Phoenix in the last couple of years, so there's not a lot of people who fit the "someone who is currently working in his building" profile. Couple that with the people who've posted on this thread who are actually in the building (Goddard and the voice guy) who dispute your assessment of Mr. Abrams as a "tool," and I've gotta call bull spit on your posts.

But if you'd like to prove me wrong, perhaps you could relate some of those "stories" you've heard?

How is that "insider information"? I heard something from someone who heard something. I wouldn't call it insider information. I'd call it a rumor. Which is what it is. Two people like Mr. Abrams and one doesn't. Does that make the one who doesn't a liar or disgruntled? I don't think so. As for the stories, why post them? You wouldn't believe me anyways. Plus, I wouldn't do it anyways whether I liked him or not.

Why not post them? You've made no secret of your disdain for Abrams, and you don't work at CBS, so what would be the downside? This entire thread is about your personal beef with this guy, so I find it interesting that you're backing off when it comes to backing up your claims.

If you're so ticked off that he "killed" KMLE, you've got the evidence, and you're not in any personal danger, what do you have to lose?

NFVG is actually somewhere in the southeast (unless he's visiting the
KOY Building, of course). "Through the magic of ISDN, it's another
KOOL Block Party Weekend!" ::) Jeff, please note I'm not dissing you,
I'm just railing against the oh so predictable weekend themes.

And when we do have that staple of classic rock (I thought KOOL was
classic hits?), the Block Party Weekend, and the artist is Wilson Pickett,
you always know it'll be the same three songs. Hey, how about a little
Funky Broadway sometimes?

Does KOOL ever feature James Brown on a Block Party Weekend? I don't
see how, since they only play one James Brown song! ;) I know, I know,
the Stevemeister will prove me wrong by playing Papa's...Bag, but really,
besides that (on rare occasions) and the usual burned-to-a-crisp one,
have you ever heard another JB tune on 94.5 KOOL-FM? Say, what about
Hot Pants--it's even a '70s song!

Don't blame the Nameless Faceless Voice Guy for the weekend themes... :)

"Funky Broadway." I included that in my KOOL 2008 Tribute!

Yes, they do.

...Well everyone already knows I'm really KDM7000, and everywhere you go or google it brings it up and directs everything right back to me, my pics, music...etc. So, there's no way I can hide or fool anyone. The only way I could possibly fool people now is if I,

A: Became employed by Candid Camera, Lente Locos, Punk'd, or some other hidden camera show, or
B: Started my own hidden camera show.

KDM7000, DJ KDM, .....It's all me, ALL the time! ;D
