Are there any JACKS on AM radio?

I was just wondering if the format is exclusive to FM only? I have not heard of any stations on the AM side.

Not at the moment, and never of the Jack variety. However, there was 880 JOE AM (CHQT) in Edmonton, Alberta (Canada). I'd bet that if you wanted a real JACKfm station on the AM dial, you'd fail, but I'd bet that you could do it. You'd have to check with jack.

Canada seems to be more accepting of the AM dial; Toronto's CBC Radio One affilate (CBL, now CBLA) was only available on 740AM until 1998; now, it's FM only on 99.1.

JACKS on AM

I'd hope not. What a waste.

Music on AM (with very few exceptions) won't be competitive enough. Look at some of the Oldies on AM attempts- total dogs.

870 KJMP in Pierce, CO simulcasts 105.5 Jack FM (KJAC), which is based out of Colorado Springs and rimshots Denver. So technically, JACK-FM is on an AM station, albeit on an AM station.
______________

But that makes it JACK-AM, doesn't it?

KJAC is out of Ft. Collins, not Colorado Springs.
______________

I can't decide if the mighty 1190 in Dallas is a clone of the variety hits format, but they are very close.

I don't think so. They are a reaction to variety. They have no person with a name, just some promotions and no spots until LABOR DAY.

I think that every song except one song an hour would be acceptable as an oldie though they play fifties every hour which is not played on oldies stations.

Maybe they can be described as "Variety Oldies.

Here is what they played recently. There are two songs here that would not be oldies.

First Broadcasting Urban Oldies KMGS-AM (Magic 1160)/Dallas has "expanded" its playlist by shifting from "All Motown, All The Time" to "Smokin' Oldies." The station is featuring a "Jack"-like playlist of 1000+ songs.
