Are there any REAL 27/7 all news stations left

I've been trying to find one. Weekends (mornings in particular) seem to be the hardest to find. I'm a news junkie and really prefer local (or national) news to music. I realize that the format isn't profitable in those times for almost every market but still hoping to find a holdout or two. Any suggestions?

Maybe not 27/7 but 24/7. WWJ Detroit fits the bill. They do air Michigan Wolverine games once a week during the football season but otherwise its all news, all the time.

Depends on where you are. New York, LA, Chicago, SF, Philly, Houston, Atlanta, Boston all have 24/7 news stations. Then you might try NPR stations. They tend to be all news, although it's all mostly national/international.

WBBM Chicago is not 24/7 news. They're 23/7 news, with When Radio Was at midnight CT plus Bear games during football season.

(Yes, I'm nitpicking, but I think the OP is too.)

umfan, thanks for the correction! KeithE4, I'll give WBBM a try. I stream a LOT of stations from across the country and really struggle on the weekends to find something other than financial charlatans.

Pray tell, what's the 24/7 news station in Boston?

Talking about news is not the same thing as a nonstop newscast, as you well know, which also disqualifies the public radio stations you mention. Diane Rehm, Here and Now, Fresh Air, This American Life and much of what the BBC runs overnight are all valuable programming, but I wouldn't describe them as being "all-news."

WBZ is non-stop 5AM to 8PM.

But it also runs talk and, on weekends, infomercials. Hardly a 24/7 news operation. With sister station WBZ-FM reportedly ready to add the Celtics to its crowded sports lineup, I wouln't be surprised to see play-by-play return to the AM lineup as well on nights that games conflict, rather than pre-empt music on one of the cluster's FMs.

Realistically, 5AM to 8PM is quite sufficient for any news junkie. Even KYW in Philly goes on tape for a few hours in the overnight. And the cable news channels aren't really 24/7 unless there's breaking news.

WINS New York is as pure news as it gets - WCBS will be as well when the Yankees move to WFAN.

In Chicago CBS put WBBM on a FM simulcast to keep the Bears happy.

Only a handful of news stations run pure news 24/7. WINS is first and foremost. KYW in Philly, WTOP and WNEW in DC. WNEW does run the audio of 60 minutes as does KNX and KCBS in San Francisco. Not sure if WCBS runs any football. If not, after next week when the Yankees games end. They also run 60 minutes. WYAY,Atlanta runs infomercials on weekend mornings. KOMO in Seattle is close. They may run sporting events or talk shows, not sure. If you are interested in Canada, CFTR Toronto, CIWW Ottawa, CFFR Calgary and CKWX Vancouver are all news all the time.
