Tucson Are there any updates on KWCX, KCDX, KKYZ, KRDX?

Cochise just filed a minor amendment for the Mescal C2 move-in which will be a extreme rimshotter into the Tucson area.

"This amendment to the pending KPSA-FM application is being filed in order to make a slight change in the proposed antenna tower site. Where originally it was proposed to construct a new structure for KPSA-FM, it is now proposed to construct the station on an existing tower approximately 390 meters away from the originally-requested location. This application remains as part of a contingent application group with a minor change application for New FM Channel 218A Lordsburg (FCC File No. 0000196732). There is no change to the Lordsburg 218A application."

The new app has the same coordinates as KCNN, which will also be an extreme rimshotter as well with their upgrade app.

Google the phrase...

Would it kill you to just tell us? Not worth googling.
It's meaningless Latin text that has the approximate mix of letters, vowels and consonants as English. It is used to fill text in a document or web page while the final real text is written.

It took me a lot longer to answer your question that it would have taken you to do a search on "lorem dolor".

Aren't you glad you wasted my time?

Thank you. Yes, I am! Saved me from wasting mine.

Tucker is at it again. Admittedly, I did not out see this one coming.

Cochise today filed to change KXKR's Community of License to South Tucson, upgrade power to 13.5kw ERP, and change frequency to 101.3 . Same location but different antenna pattern (now with no deep nulls).

Engineering Study here;

South Tucson COL study here:

South Tucson gets another signal.

Nice move, Ted! (y)

Well...not there but before they were there, as in the dumpy ol' building on Broadway.

The FCC approved today an important change to the already crowded Metro Tucson FM spectrum. Cochise gets an important upgrade to the Class C3 KXKR. Yes, Tucker another "value upgrade"

The before-after pictures can be summarized as follows:

Frequency: 101.1 ---> 101.3
Power (ERP): 11.5kw ---> 13.5kw
Deepest Null (dB) : -19 ---> -4.1.
Community of License: Catalina Foothills ---> South Tucson

The antenna remains on the current KXKR tower, with a radcen of just 15.8 meterss.

There's a couple of spots in the NW area that KXKR gets wiped out by KZCE out of beautiful Cordes Lakes, AZ...mainly due to terrain, I'd surmise.

This move just *might* be good enough to get it to be heard in many more valley locations.

EDIT: Looks like the transmitter/antenna is moving into the community of Summit...10000 block of Old Nogales Hwy has a cell tower. Looks like it'll move there.

For whatever bizarre reason, I went back and examined the KWCX Tanque Verde move-in paperwork.. (KWCX has long -since shifted ownership to Relevant Radio , the Catholic radio network.)

Holy Smokes! (Pun intended.) There's literally a 3kw ERP antenna array on top of someone's home. The L2C exhibit has some photos of all the countermeasures to keep people away from this fairly low tower - all the more interesting by using ring-stub antennas (four-bay halfwave array).

See the slide deck photos:

No need for solar cooking here folks .. just go on the roof for some slowcooked BBQ ! (The early photos posted by a RadioDiscussions reader only hinted at this crazy arrangement. It's one thing to have an LPFM at one's house... another thing to have 3kw ERP blasting off your rooftop.)

Let us pray for the homeowners....

One could only hope the home is a B&B instead - just to keep the radiation level spread out over 100+ guests annually... :unsure:
