Are Westchester/Rockland/Putnam counties included ?

Do you guys , here , consider Westchester County (where I grew up) , Putnam County , and RocklandCounty to be in the Hudson Valley as you define it here ?
I ask because , since I have left the area , I see that the cross-those counties (owned by Gannett) newspaper (published out of White Plains) , the JOURNAL NEWS , likes to play the area up as " LoHud " - the Lower Hudson Valley ! They're really playing it up now as an identifier ," LoHud " , I saw , just now , via their Web site .
Frankly , that's the sort of usage only a Chamber of Commerce person could come up with , but anyway ;D...
 
Yes, Westchester, Putnam and Rockland are considered the Lower Hudson Valley area in a general sense. Anything north of NYC is the Hudson Valley Region. The questionable line is always Orange County...many say it's lower, others say it's "mid Hudson Valley", but that's really more Sullivan, Dutchess etc.

Obviously from a radio standpoint W-P-R are New York DMA. Not sure what you're driving at, you think Westchester is too good to be part of the Hudson Valley or something?
 
The new Hudson Valley Metro - market #39 - includes Westchester, Rockland, Putnam and Orange. Dutchess, Sullivan and Ulster are a part of the TSA. First book due out in January.

It's going to be interesting as that book will only really help WSPK and WHUD. All the others are Class As that don't even cover the region. Stupid.

I'd never heard it when I left the area in 1997 ?

What does " DMA " - Designated Metropolitan Area - stand for ?

All the others are corporate-owned and the only thing they worry about covering is their debt payments.

And holiday bonuses for management at corporate HQ.

DMA is designated market area, aka Media Market.
