Area 108 is on the air...

Sample playlist?

Can anyone post a sample playlist for us non-Vegas folks?

Thanks,

Sure, here was their first hour at 4PM.

Green Day-Jaded
Beck-Where It's At
Killers-Somebody Told Me
Ramones-I Wanna Be Sedated
Nirvana-Lithium
Gorillaz-Fel Good Inc
Everclear-Father Of Mine
Red Hot Chili Peppers-Can't Stop
Blink 182-All The Small Things
Nickelback-Photograph
Sublime-Wrong Way
Fatboy Slim-Praise You

Here is one of the sweepers I heard: "Because Mix is either for your mom or little sister, were not sure which..there had to be another choice".

I am having difficulty picking up their signal at home, they come in much better in the car. Their signal will be a huge handicap of course.

Overall a straight down the middle Alternative, softer than KXTE and harder than Hot AC KMXB. I would guess they will impact Xtreme more than Mix due to texture of music and dial position. With their signal, they may not hurt anybody. Then again, I believe KEDJ in Phoenix is on a weak signal and they have seen ratings gains since Riviera took over.

i don't get it....we have x107.5...why do we need another station like x1075...another wasted frequency.....

You might get some higher than usual numbers in the fall book due to initial sampling..but what is does the future look like for this format? Are they aiming this at 18-34 males? 18-34 females? I'm just looking at this initial hour and wondering what the purpose is..

Re: Sample playlist?

Yeah, I get what they're trying to do...but didn't The Edge get crushed in between Xtreme and Mix back in the day trying to do the same thing? I'll admit I like what they're playing thus far. The signal, as most have pointed out, seems to be the issue. I've heard they're trying to put a repeater on the Strat or the Riv or something? Does anyone know what they can actually can get away with to strengthen the signal?

I Totally See What THey're Doing

The problem with Alternative today is that it's either to hip for the room or to hard for extended listening. Alt stations that continually press the "anger" button are now endanger. Xtreme in Vegas and Cleveland have both pushed that Alt-Anger button for such a long time that they are missing true hits, not only on the current side but on the gold side as well. Why can't a station play Fatboy Slim "Praise You"? It still tests well with the audience. So why not? It's because it doesn't flow with the monotone alt-anger guys like Staind, Disturbed, and Avenged Seven-lame. I understand the Nickelback too. It's a great mass appeal song. Every one of those songs are hits, coupled with a pretty unique identity for a radio station, it could to very well. Remember Hot A/C is for people who are old who don't want to feel old, and Extreme is for the 21+ males who spend money on beer. I'm not sure who's in the Morning on Xtreme, if it's Stern, then they are just screwed and Area 108 turns into a brillant chess move.
