Yes, also the new DJ, Violet is pretty cool. I do like the fact they're pretty big into giveaways (almost won coldplay concert tix). I think this station will get even bigger, once they convert either Star 102.7 or Xtreme Radio into the FREE FM (Talk) Radio format. That, and fixing their transistor situation.

i honestly don't think it's bad at all. my favorite stations in Las Vegas are Hot 97.5, Mix 94.1, and Area 108. they are the only stations i listen to at all. Hot 97.5 is a sweet sounding hip hop station. Their jocks sound like they live the hip hop lifestyle. Mix 94.1 has fun giveaways, a huge following, and they play the perfect blend of female friendly alternative and the pop music that really matters. Area 108 is more for the artsy male that loves alternative and is alternative., which I am. I enjoy them tremendously, although I dont think they'll last...which sucks.

Area open the door for real alternative music., Nine Inch Nails, RHCP, Beck, Depeche Mode, The Killers, Death Cab for Cutie and other Indie artist Mix only tested on Area 9-4-1. Was that because they never received promotional value from the labels? Area 108 takes the risk and plays what the people want!
When I hear Mix play Gwen Stefani-The Banana song, I think they want high school students. The I hear them play Rob Thomas and I think ok, maybe they want the 24 yr old female. Keith Urban, isn't he a country artist? Better to leave Coyote for the country music! Then I hear Papa Roach and I think male, angry male! Mix is all over the place! Last I checked, Arbitron listed Mix as a Hot A/C, NOT an adult Top 40!
Whatever the plan is for Mix in the coming months, I wish them all the luck! They seem to be all over the place and confused. Do your research right or hire a consultant to tell you what to play. Bubble Gum is meant for KLUC. Male leaning rock is for KXTE or KOMP. Country music is meant only for KWNR and The Coyote. Mix, you should be playing Lifehouse, Rob Thomas, Sugar Ray, Dave Matthews Band, Collective Soul, and get back to the music you once played a decade ago.
Lately, I've been hearing more and more 90's music that I guess you played back in the day. Play more of it! You play promo's like Goo Goo Dolls back then and the song is Name. Greendays, Live's and John Mayer's back then and other's. We should hear more and more of the BACK THEN songs. At least 3 times an hour. There are plenty of songs you could play. If you are and always have been a Hot A/C, bring back Jann Arden, Shawn Mullins, Tal Bachman, Seal, Hootie and the Blowfish (ok that's a stretch)but you know what I mean! Be true to your roots and play what we really want to hear instead of saying it. If Mix is Your Music and Your Station, then maybe its time to take the time to listen to the listener and not the 16-18 year old in house researchers in the call center.

youre talking like area has taken over the market with a roaring thunder...like "the beat" did when they first went onair in colorado springs (immediately to #1 12+, jockless rap station at the time). i can hardly have the scan button STOP at 107.9. they've got some growth to go.
dont get me wrong, the music variety is good, and their imaging as improved exponentially as of late...but they still have some growing to do, and to be honest, they arent going anywhere without a hell of an advertising campaign.
and as for mix not being top 40...i knew about mix before i even entered this market because it isnt your "at work station" hot ac. it is your "hip mom" hot ac. not all moms want to listen to michael bolton or a slew of 80's songs. mix takes itself as a hot ac/chr hybrid (seeing as there is no chr-top 40 in the market) and thats why i think they are the success they are. they image the station as a hip station. they play popular music (often times first to the gate with hits).
my former station was a chr-r...and they played some rap, but they played pop and dance as well...they knew they needed to play to their market, and thats why they have been 12+ for ages... mix does the same. an at-work station in the entertainment capital of the world... it isnt going to float. mix is a step above hot ac and a step below chr. not adding a pop-culture phenom single like "hollaback girl" would be so foolish...its a catchy tune, and oh guess what...a successful one.
and i dont need to suck up to the station...they hired me for my good looks, not my allegiance...but i am just kind of tired of someone as uneducated as yourself, jackster, talking trash about a station you obviously have some personal distain for. pick up a trade magazine and you'll realize mix "ain't no joke".

well said, kmxb is a monster. jackster needs to get a freakin' clue. i know this fool works for cbs. if he works for mix, he is digging his own grave. if he works for a sister station *cough cough* kluc, the jealousy instead of acceptance and respect for the station that keeps them afloat with $$ will only get ya some bad ass karma. and we all know there ain't no stoppin that damn karma once it comes. in my own humble opinion, kmxb, kveg, and kvgs are the only stations in vegas that sound stellar. to those guys, i say... GREAT JOB!!!! jackster, start respecting your co workers and sister stations. actually, start respecting every station in town. you never know who you'll be working for and with in the future, if working in radio at all. i think more people need to set this "jackster" ****** bag straight. he doesn't even know what a live stream is for cryin' out loud. get a freakin' clue.
