So whats your idea of program director?..in this day in age, aren't most program directors out of town...and someone is put in place to carryout the company's policies? Stations have what would be called an ops manager, to make sure voice tracks are done, and the lights are turned off when everyone goes home?

Roger Neel all the way...best boss I've ever had...he knows his talk radio and sports, best guy in the business hands down!!!

I worked for a number of PD's in the market back in the day and I'd nominate Don Morgan ahead of any.JJWAAL 1992-1997

We all know who the all time worst PD was but he's not here anymore. No, he's upped and moved himself and his love of multiple whole chickens to another market. Dreams do come true. Can I get an amen?

I never worked with Don Morgan (but I did interview him once for an article I was doing). Jacko and Jim Free are my personal favorites.

As for PD's from the past, Jim Ashbery receives my vote...he was the PD of WNBF back in the late 60's-early 70's before Stoner bought the station from Triangle Publications.

Ashbery had a strong radio career...WHEN/Syracuse, WFLA/Tampa, WSB/Atlanta, WCCO/Minneapolis. Those are all legendary call letters in their respective cities.

Would you consider Dick Sargent, who programmed WENE in '67-'68 and was responsible for the "Big E" branding, now Johnny Donovan, longtime production guru at WABC?

As far as anyone anywhere ever....Ted Utz at 95x when Ted was in Syr......I still drink Heinys because of him!!

I liked working for Michael McCoy and Al Brock at Clear Channel about 6 years ago. Both of these guys have enjoyed major market success and their programming skills were among the best ever.
