Reading will not be getting a CHR anytime soon. They are sandwiched in by too many markets.
But life isn't all that bad there. WLAN, WAEB and WIOQ are all rimshots. Heck that's more CHRs than most other places in the country. WLAN comes in just fine in most of the southwestern part of the county, and WAEB serves the rest.
It's sort of like how York, PA doesn't technically have a CHR anymore. But WLAN and WHKF cover the market pretty well.
Oh and Trenton? WPST is basically a CHR, especially at night. Not to mention they are covered by WIOQ
Denver/Boulder has 95.7 The Party and Hot 107.1 (even though that station is extremely HORRIBLE, yuck).
Sussex technically doesn't have a CHR. Even though 92.3 NOW (no, I won't say Lisa Paige this time ), Z100 and 103.5 KTU are there, they are too weak (according to Radio-Locator).
El Paso has XHTO "104.3 Hit FM".
I don't know whats up with Fresno. B95 is a mess. Sometimes they sound CHR, but most of the time don't. Q97 is sort of close to CHR but most of the time rhythmic.
Another city that doesn't have a CHR: Oxnard-Ventura, CA (though I'm pretty sure the LA radio stations do cover the area)
I forgot again to mention a few others:
Butte, MT
Buxton/Outer Banks, NC
Worchester, MA
Springfield, MA
Monticello Area, NY State
Montauk (Eastern) Long Island
Atlantic City, NJ
Bar Harbor is a tiny town of 5000 people, but that's still better than (gasp!) Buxton, NC which you mentioned - a town of 1500 folks.
Montauk is at the very end of The Hamptons, and only has a population of like 4000. People go there to get away from everything, and I think the town's biggest claim to fame is being mentioned in the Jim Carey and Claire Daines movie "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind"
Worcester is pretty well served by Boston's Kiss 108
Monticello is served by the Hudson Valley's K-104
Springfield, Ma is served by non-comm CHR WAIC 91.9
