New station construction permitsK20IQ Flagstaff (Telecom Wireless LLC) – 10 kW from an in-city location E of the NAU campus – predicted to cover most of the city north of I-40. All competing applications were dismissed. This CP assures that the application filed by Turner Enterprises to move K20HS to Mormon Mtn will be rejected. The K20HS CP expires on May 15, 2006 and I’m sure would never have been built in time.K41JE Williams-Ash Fork (KTVK Inc) – 1 kW from Bill Williams Mtn – predicted to cover all of Williams; should barely reach Ash Fork. To be a translator of KASW 61 Phoenix.K50JJ Prescott (KM Communications) – 9.99 kW from SW of the city – predicted to cover Prescott, Prescott Valley and up to Chino Valley. All competing applications were dismissed.K53JA Flagstaff (Howard Mintz) – 150 kW from Newberry Mesa about 10 mi. N of Leupp, about 40 mi. from Flagstaff. Signal should cover Leupp; is pointed toward Flagstaff in a broad pattern. This CP has me scratching my head, especially since KM Communications had a competing application that would have actually served Flagstaff from Mt. Elden. Theirs was dismissed.Existing station construction permitsK55DB Prescott (Arizona State Board of Regents for ASU) – granted displacement CP to move to ch 43 – new calls to be K43JZ.K61HA Bullhead City (TBN) – granted CP to move analog signal to ch 51; supersedes previous CP to move to ch 50 – new calls to be K51IO.K64BV Casas Adobes (KVOA Communications Inc) – granted CP to move to ch 20 and to move transmitter location to industrial park approx. 5 mi. N of current Tumamoc Hill location, which will give better coverage to high-growth Marana area – new calls to be K20IL.KBFY-LP 41 Fortuna (Powell Meredith Communications Company) – granted CP to move to ch 39, move transmitter location 8 mi W of current location E of Fortuna Foothills, and increase power from 1.8 kW to 8 kW. KBFY-LP had been off the air since being displaced by KYMA-DT, which broadcasts on ch 41.KVPA-LP 42 Phoenix (KDMA Channel 25, Inc.) – granted CP to move transmitter location from Usery Mtn to South Mtn and to increase ERP towards the horizon from 4 kW to 11 kW while decreasing max. ERP from 150 kW to 25 kW. New pattern predicted to cover Goodyear to Gilbert, North Mtn to Sun Lakes. This move will leave KCOS-LP 28 and K57HX as the only stations still broadcasting from Usery Mtn.The swap of KDTP 39 Phoenix and KPHZ 11 Holbrook was approved by the FCC, as was the transfer of stations KRDX-CA 48 Phoenix and KPHZ-LP 58 Phoenix from NBC Telemundo to Community Television Educators (Daystar).K69GT St George UT (Clear Channel Broadcasting Licenses) - granted displacement CP to move to channel 38.Digital LPTV conversionK20GG Duncan (Arizona Board of Regents for UA) has been granted authority to convert to a digital signal via an on-channel flash cut.Here today, gone tomorrowPrescott stations K24EP and KQBN-LP 28 (Tiger Eye Communications) filed resumption of operation notices to inform the FCC that both stations returned to the air last October. They have already filed for remain silent STAs.Station sales not consummatedUna Vez Mas elected not to consummate a deal to purchase stations K24EP Prescott and KQBN-LP 28 Prescott from Tiger Eye Broadcasting. It's my understanding that ownership of the stations remains with the seller.Applications filed but not yet approvedKPHZ 39 Phoenix has applied to move their transmitter location from the current antenna to a nearby antenna. The antenna lease for KDTP was not conveyed to NBC Telemundo, and they have requested to move KPHZ's transmitter to an antenna already used by KDRX-CA, KPPX and KPPX-DT. NBC Telemundo also filed an STA to expedite the process, but that has already been dismissed.K25HU Kingman (Gerald Benavides) has applied for a license to cover a new station. The transmitter is located within the city, as opposed to atop Hualapai Peak, where most of the other LPTV stations serving Kingman are located. Its 10 kW signal is predicted to cover most of the populated area of the city.K51IO Bullhead City (TBN) has already applied for a license to cover their move from channel 61 to 51.Applications filed for renewal of licenseTV licenses expire on 10/1/2006 in Arizona, Utah and Nevada, and on 12/1/2006 in California. (Stations licensed to the other three states also serve Arizona.) KQBN-LP and K24EP sale update

After indicating last month that they would not consummate the deal to buy Prescott-licensed LPTV stations KQBN-LP 28 and K24EP from Tiger Eye Broadcasting, Una Vez Mas San Diego LLC filed a consummation notice yesterday.
