  • K38IZ-D Phoenix (Spanish Independent Broadcast Network, LLC) has requested to increase power from 9.9 kW to 15 kW. No other changes to the station are proposed and Mexican coordination is not thought to be necessary. Technical specifications: Ch 38; TL 33-20-0 N, 112-3-45 W; ERP 15 kW; HAAT 468 m.
  • K07YX Tucson (Trinity Broadcasting of Arizona, Inc.) has requested a six-month extension of its Silent STA while it evaluates whether or not to continue operating the station due to budget concerns.
  • KEGS-LP 30 Las Vegas NV (Mako Communications LLC) has requested an STA to operate the analog station in a combined array until such time that digital facilities can be built. Mako recently purchased the station in bankruptcy proceedings and the station's assets did not include any equipment or tower site.
  • KNBX-CA 31 Las Vegas NV (Mako Communications LLC) has requested an STA to operate the analog station in a combined array until such time that digital facilities can be built. Mako recently purchased the station in bankruptcy proceedings and the station's assets did not include any equipment or tower site.
  • K32FQ St. George UT (University of Utah) has requested to flash cut to digital. Technical specifications: Ch 32; TL 37-3-50 N, 113-34-19 W; ERP 0.225 kW; HAAT 57 m. Primary station: KUEN 9.x (36) Ogden UT via K50KC-D Washington UT.

Applications dismissed

  • The FCC has dismissed an application of KPHE-LP 44 Phoenix (Lotus TV of Phoenix, LLC) to increase power of its analog facility to 150 kW. The application had been filed in March 2006. The Mexican government had filed opposition in November 2006 due to interference concerns to XHLRT-TV 44 San Luis Rio Colorado SO. The application was moot, as KPHE-LP shut off its analog facility shortly after bringing its digital channel online.
  • A requested modification to the digital flash cut application for K36DU Lake Havasu City (Richard D. Tatham) has been dismissed, as the referenced construction permit has expired.

Expired/expiring construction permits

  • The construction permit for new analog station K08OP Parker (Yuma Broadcasting Company) expired on April 19.

A few updates overlooked:

New programming

  • KEJR-LD 40.x is no longer simulcasting its 40.1 programming on 40.2. Each subchannel is now running separate programming. So far, it appears that 40.2 is exclusively infomercials in both English and Spanish. When 40.1 is not airing MTV Tr3s programming, it is running separate infomercials.
  • KEGS-LD 30.2 (24) is now airing Almavision programming.

Digital conversion

  • Mohave County has begun converting its analog LP translator stations to digital. Already converted:
    • K02HR Bullhead City (PBS - KAET)
    • K09KV Bullhead City (NBC - KPNX)
    • K42EU Topock (PBS - KAET)
    • K30BQ Needles CA (NBC - KPNX)
    • K32DW Chloride (PBS - KLVX)
    • K42CQ Chloride (NBC - KPNX)
    • K31BI Kingman (CBS - KLAS)
    • K35EI Dolan Springs (NBC - KPNX)
    • K49GE Kingman (PBS - KAET)
    • K50CY Kingman (NBC - KPNX)
    • K31GZ Lake Havasu City (PBS - KAET)
    • K46GI Lake Havasu City (NBC - KPNX)
    • K36FZ Meadview (PBS - KAET)
    • K23DK Meadview (NBC - KPNX)
Mohave County jumped the gun on the Bullhead City stations, as neither had been granted a construction permit yet. In fact, yesterday, the FCC dismissed the applications for those two stations, as they failed to properly protect Las Vegas full-power stations KVBC-DT on channel 2 and KVVU-DT on channel 9. The FCC sent Mohave County a request to amend their applications or to show that there would be no interference, but the County failed to do so. The northern Bullhead City translators are in the Mohave Valley surrounded by high mountains, so there should have been no interference with the Las Vegas stations. Oops.
  • K59EX Laughlin NV converted to digital on February 16, taking the new call sign of K44JR-D. It airs both subchannels of KTNV 13.x Las Vegas NV.
