Arizona TV Station Update - April 2023

Arizona TV Station Update wishes to thank AVS Forum members KyL416 and theMysticSeer for contributing to this month's update.

New Licenses
  • K25MK-D 12.x Camp Verde (The Camp Verde TV Club Inc.) requested and has been granted a license to cover its antenna change. Technical specifications: Ch 25; TL 34° 28' 12" N, 111° 52' 25" W (Porcupine Mtn.); ERP 0.287 kW HP DA; HAAT 694 m / 2276 ft.
Branding changes
  • Gray TV has rebranded Arizona Family Sports & Entertainment Network to Arizona's Family Sports and has dropped the channel 44 logo from the network ID, as the network is being rolled out on other channels in the state.
Programming Changes
  • KVOA 4.x (23) Tucson (Tucson TV License Company LLC) has dropped channels 4.6 Comet TV, and 4.7 QVC.
  • KMSB 11.x (25) Tucson (Sander Operating Co. V LLC DBA KMSB Television) has added Comet TV on channel 11.7 and QVC on channel 11.8. There is no channel 11.6.
  • KOLD-TV 13.x (32, 13) Tucson (Gray Television Licensee LLC) has added Arizona's Family Sports on channel 13.5, moving Charge! programming to channel 13.6.
  • NBC Universal has announced that it will be shutting down NBC LX. No timeframe has been given, but inside sources have said that mid-2023 is likely. NBC LX is seen in Arizona on the following channels:
    • KTAZ 39.4 Phoenix
    • KHRR 40.3 Tucson
    • KBLR 39.3 Las Vegas NV
  • KPDF-CD 41.x (22) Phoenix (HC2 Station Group Inc.) has replaced Magnificent Movies Network with Law & Crime Trial Network on channel 41.8.
  • KDVD-LD 50.x (25) Globe (Globe LPTV LLC) has replaced TBD with infomercials on channel 50.7.
  • K25MK-D 12.x Camp Verde (The Camp Verde TV Club Inc.) is back on air.
  • K35OU-D 21.x Tucson (Ventana Television Inc.) is back on air.
  • KVCW 33.x (29) Las Vegas NV (KUPN Licensee LLC) is back on air.
  • KMCC 34.x (32) Laughlin NV (Ion Television Licensee LLC) will drop its Ion affiliation and become an independent station later this year, according to a press release from E.W. Scripps Company. The station will become the local broadcast home for Las Vegas Golden Knights hockey.
  • KGNG-LD 26.x Las Vegas NV (King Kong Broadcasting LLC) has dropped the audio stream of InfoWars on channel 26.11 for an audio service called NewsTalk Radio.
Construction Permits, Special Temporary Authorizations (STAs) and Tolling Requests Granted
  • KBFY-LD 41.x (2) Yuma (KBFY LLC) has been granted a modification to its license, to change antenna and to move about 30 ft higher on its current tower. Technical specifications: Ch 2; TL 33° 3' 2" N, 114° 49' 41" W (Black Mtn.); ERP 3 kW DA HP; HAAT 389 m/1276 ft.
  • KDVD-LD 50.x (25) Globe (Globe LPTV LLC) requested and was granted a construction permit to increase power from its current 5.5 kW to the maximum allowed for an LPTV station, 15 kW. Technical specifications: Ch 25; TL 33° 19' 57" N, 112° 4' 0" W (South Mtn.); ERP 15 kW DA HP 2.5° EBT; HAAT 480 m / 1574 ft.
  • K25MK-D 12.x Camp Verde (The Camp Verde TV Club Inc.) requested and was granted a construction permit to change its antenna system, from a Kathrein 70510210 to a Scala CL-1469B. No power or location changes are requested. Technical specifications: Ch 25; TL 34° 28' 12" N, 111° 52' 25" W (Porcupine Mtn.); ERP 0.287 kW HP DA; HAAT 694 m / 2276 ft.
  • K27PC-D Yuma (Jose Rivera Miramontes) has been granted a displacement construction permit to move to channel 26. Its new call sign is K26PX-D. Technical specifications: Ch 26; TL 32° 40' 21" N, 114° 20' 10" W (Telegraph Pass); ERP 1.8 kW DA HP; HAAT 355 m / 1164 ft.
  • KEGS-LD 30.x (24) Las Vegas NV (HC2 Station Group Inc.) requested and was granted an Engineering STA to operate at reduced power while it repairs its transmitter. Technical specifications: Ch 24; TL 35° 56' 46" N, 115° 2' 37" W (Arden Peak); ERP 7.5 kW DA HP; HAAT 548 m / 1797 ft.
Construction Permits, Special Temporary Authorizations (STAs) and Tolling Requested
  • KOLD-TV 13.x (32/13) Tucson (Gray Television Licensee LLC) has applied for a construction permit to increase power from 0.3 kW to 1 kW at its Digital Replacement Transmitter. No other changes are requested, other than minor corrections. Technical specifications: Ch 13; TL 32° 14' 52" N, 111° 7' 1" W; ERP 1 kW HP (0.75° EBT); HAAT 618 m / 2027 ft.
Canceled, Dismissed, Expired, Expiring
  • KDTP 11.x Holbrook (Community Television Educators Inc.) has a construction permit to build a maximum power facility near the Mogollon Rim that will expire on May 19. Technical specifications: Ch 11; TL 34° 23' 19" N, 110° 59' 39" W (Bennett Butler Tank); ERP 160 kW HP; HAAT 54 m / 177 ft.
