As always, questions, additions, comments and corrections welcome.

New licenses

  • KPAZ-TV 21.x (20) Phoenix (Trinity Broadcasting of Arizona, Inc.) has requested a license to cover its maximized facilities. TBN reports that the station began broadcasting with a maximized signal on November 20. Technical specifications: Ch 20; TL 33-20-3 N, 112-3-42 W (South Mtn.); ERP 1000 kW; HAAT 489 m.
  • K47GQ 8.x Parks (Arizona Board of Regents for Arizona State University) has requested a license to cover its digital flash cut construction permit. Technical specifications: Ch 47; TL 35-12-1 N, 112-12-17 W (Bill Williams Mtn.); ERP 1 kW directional; HAAT 750 m.
  • KMCC 34.x (32) Laughlin NV (Cranston Acquisition, LLC) has requested a license to cover its distributed television system (DTS). The two-site system uses the same facilities that had formerly been used for the standard license and experimental low-power authorizations. Technical specifications: Ch 32; TL1 35-39-7 N, 114-18-42 W (White Hills); TL2 35-56-45 N, 115-2-35 W (Black Mtn. Arden site); ERP1 1000 kW directional; ERP2 5 kW directional; HAAT1 588 m.; HAAT2 545 m.

Programming changes

  • KPPX 51.x Phoenix (America 51, L.P.) has added a sixth subchannel, Home Shopping Network (HSN), airing on channel 51.6. The station has also reduced its Airbox programming to the barker channel, NFL Red Zone and Starz Movie Channel. HSN continues to air on KAZT 7.3 as well; there is no indication as to how long HSN will appear on two stations.
  • KPDF-CA 41.x Phoenix (Una Vez Más, LLC) has been airing what appears to be secular programming of unknown origin on channel 41.2, while continuing to air programming from Levantando Tu Nación (LTN) during the evening. KPDF now airs Liquidation Channel programming overnights on channel 41.3, after LATV programming ends. Now if we could only get a station to pick up ShopNBC...

Transactions

  • The Arizona Conference Corporation of Seventh-Day Adventists was granted approval from the FCC to purchase the original construction permit of K39KW-D Yuma from Jose Rivera Miramontes. The transaction has been consummated. The construction permit, already having been extended 6 months, expires on 3/28/2014, and is likely to be extended again until the FCC enacts its spectrum repack.

Construction permits and STAs granted

  • K19IP-D Flagstaff (Luke Skelton) has been granted a six-month extension of its construction permit, until June 2, 2014. Technical specifications: Ch 19; TL 35-14-28 N, 111-35-48 W (Mt. Eldon); ERP 2 kW directional; HAAT 575 m.
  • K38LW-D Payson (Luke Skelton) has been granted a six-month extension of its construction permit, until June 2, 2014. Technical specifications: Ch 38; TL 34-17-23 N, 111-11-26 W (Diamond Point); ERP 1.51 kW non-directional; HAAT 299 m.
  • K50LV-D Prescott (Luke Skelton) has been granted a six-month extension of its construction permit, until June 2, 2014. Technical specifications: Ch 50; TL 34-32-27 N, 112-25-40 W (Badger Mtn.); ERP 1.55 kW directional; HAAT 190 m.

Applications and STAs requested

  • K04QP-D 4.x Casas Adobes (KVOA Communications, Inc.) has requested an STA to operate at power lower than its construction permit requests, but higher than its license allows. The station is licensed is for 300 W and is building out new facilities for 2 kW, but due to technical difficulties, is only able to produce a 1 kW signal. The station would like to be able to operate at 1 kW until the problems are fixed, estimated to be 120 days. STAs are generally good for 6 months. Technical specifications: Ch 4; TL 32-12-53 N, 111-0-20 W (Tumamoc Hill); ERP 1 kW non-directional; HAAT 153 m.
