Arizona TV Station Update - October 2009

Well, I found a solution - of sorts. I have this beat-up old bowtie cobbed together with decades-old 300 ohm lead-in. I put a splitter on my converter box and connected both the outside antenna and the beat-up old bowtie and VIOLA! - the outside aluminum brings in the 3 VHF's loud and clear and the bowtie does the same for the UHF's. The installation looks a bit strange, and I'm sure an engineer would cringe, but at last I have strong signals on all stations.

A bow-tie antenna should always work better than a loop - UHF is UHF. I may have to dig one up from my junk box hardware archive. ;D

I had to do pretty much the same thing in order to stop pixelation with my indoor antennas. A wing antenna on the wall and a rabbit ears/loop antenna on the TV each lead into a splitter, and the common goes to the TV. Now I'm safe walking thru the house or if cars pass, until I can get a chance to run a line from the attic down into the rooms, eventually hooking into an outdoor antenna that I will need to install. (Been waiting for the attic temps to drop below 150 degrees!)

The old has become new again. Welcome to the bizarro world of DTV.
