Arizona TV Station Update - October/November 2024

New Licenses
  • K04SE-D Parker (Lowcountry 34 Media LLC) requested and has been granted a license to cover its move to a site in Tonopah, to maximize power, and to change its city of license to Buckeye. Technical specifications: Ch 4; TL 33° 29' 35" N, 112° 56' 16" W (Near cor. Indian School Rd. & 411th Ave.); ERP 3 kW DA HP; HAAT -20 m / -66 ft (AGL 9 m / 30 ft).
  • K06QW-D Sentinel (Quad Marketing Group LLC) requested and has been granted a license to cover its relocatiom from Gila Bend to a tower near Mobile. The station does not appear to be on the air. Technical specifications: Ch 6; TL 33° 3' 31" N, 112° 13' 54" W (8000 block W Kinney Rd near Mobile); ERP 1.3 kW DA HP; HAAT -8 m / 26 ft (AGL 12 m / 40 ft).
  • K10RW-D Lake Havasu (Lowcountry 34 Media LLC) requested and has been granted a license to cover its change from a high-VHF channel to a UHF channel, to move to a taller tower about five miles north, and to maximize power. Its new call sign is K25QW-D. Technical specifications: Ch 25; TL 34° 33' 26" N, 114° 25' 29" W (5 mi. N of Havasu Lake CA); ERP 15 kW HP DA; HAAT -132 m / -433 ft (AGL 20 m / 66 ft).
  • K36JX-D 7.x Many Farms (Hearst Properties Inc.) has requested a license to cover its antenna, height and power changes. Technical specifications: Ch 36; TL 36° 37' 27" N, 109° 5' 35" W (Roof Butte); ERP 1.3 kW HP 1.5° EBT; HAAT 674 m / 2,211 ft.
  • KLVX 10.x (11) Las Vegas NV (Clark County School District) requested and has been granted a license to cover its power increase. Technical specifications: Ch 11; TL 36° 0' 27" N, 115° 0' 27" W (Black Mtn.); ERP 145 kW H / 91.9 kW V DA EP EBT 0.75°; HAAT 369 m / 1210 ft.
Programming Changes
  • KMOH-TV 6.x (19) Kingman (KMOH-TV LLC) dropped Azteca TV from its lineup upon closure of the network and has replaced it with Heroes & Icons on channel 6.2. The station has also added MeTV Toons on channel 6.5.
  • KGUN 9.x Tucson (Scripps Broadcasting Holdings LLC) has replaced Scripps News on channel 9.6 with Ion Mystery following shutdown of Scripps News' broadcast distribution. The change is also seen on translator K27OP-D 9.x Oro Valley/Tucson.
  • KPPX-TV 51.x (31) Tolleson (Inyo Broadcast Licenses LLC) has replaced Scripps News on channel 51.4 with Laff following shutdown of Scripps News' broadcast distribution, and has replaced JTV on channel 51.7 with Get TV.
  • KTVP-LD 23.x Phoenix (HC2 Station Group Inc.) has replaced BeIn Sports Xtra on channel 23.5 with Fubo Sports, and Outdoor America on channel 23.7 with infomercials.
  • KFPB-LD 31.x (30) Gila River Indian Co (Globe LPTV LLC) has replaced ACE TV on channel 31.2 with SBN, and Purple TV on channel 31.8 with infomercials.
  • KKAX-LD 36.x Hilltop (Tri-State Broadcasting LLC) has been observed on the air. It is assumed that K23BJ-D Lake Havasu City airs the same lineup. See Mohave County TV Station Lineups.
  • KVPA-LD 42.x (34) Phoenix (Bridge News LLC) has added several subchannels and modified the codec used to compress most of them in the data stream. Only two channels continue to use MPEG-2 compression; the others now use H.264 AVC compression. The new station lineup, as of December 4, is as follows:

  • K12XP-D 22.x Phoenix (HC2 Station Group Inc.) has replaced MTRSPT1 on channel 22.3 with infomercials.
  • K34QY-D Golden Valley (Bridge News LLC) has been observed on the air with the Bridge News lineup that was standard in early November. It is not known whether the station is now using the expanded lineup with the AVC codec. See Mohave County TV Station Lineups.
  • KMCC 34.x Laughlin NV (Ion Television License LLC) has replaced Scripps News on channel 34.4 with Grit following shutdown of Scripps News' broadcast distribution.
Network Changes
  • E.W. Scripps has shut down the Scripps News diginet. Scripps News was seen in Arizona on KPPX-TV 51.4 Phoenix, KGUN 9.6 Tucson, KBFY-LD 41.2 Fortuna (Yuma) and KMCC 34.4 Laughlin NV / Las Vegas NV. All but the Yuma station are owned or operated by Scripps.
Transactions
  • KYPO-LD 27.x Tacna (LMO Christian Media Inc.) is proposed to be sold to Sunshine TV LLC for $75,000.
Construction Permits, Tolling, and STAs Granted
  • K06QW-D Sentinel (Quad Marketing Group LLC) has been granted a construction permit to relocate from Gila Bend to a tower near Mobile. The new signal serves very few people and does not even reach nearby Maricopa, but the new location is within 30 miles of the South Mountain antenna farm. Technical specifications: Ch 6; TL 33° 3' 31" N, 112° 13' 54" W (8000 block W Kinney Rd near Mobile); ERP 1.3 kW DA HP; HAAT -8 m / 26 ft (AGL 12 m / 40 ft).
  • K06QW-D Sentinel (Quad Marketing Group LLC) requested and has been granted a Silence STA, claiming to have shut down their signal in Gila Bend on October 16 in anticipation of its move to Mobile.
  • K30GL-D Many Farms (Nexstar Media Inc.) has been granted an STA to operate at approx. 50% power due to transmitter power issues.
  • K35OU-D 21.x Tucson (Ventana Television Inc.) requested and has been granted a Silence STA.
  • KSNV 3.x (22) Las Vegas NV (KUPN Licensee LLC) requested and has been granted an Experimental STA to conduct ATSC 3.0 tests and public demonstrations on UHF channel 33 during the Consumer Electronics Show and the National Association of Broadcasters Convention. The proposal is expected to cause an impermissible amount of interference to K33MJ-D Pahrump NV, but since that station is co-owned with KSNV, it agrees to accept the interference. Technical specifications: Ch 33; TL 36° 0' 27" N, 115° 0' 27" W (Black Mtn.); ERP 42 kW H / unknown V, 1.05° EBT; HAAT 374 m (1,227 ft).
Construction Permits, Tolling, and STAs Requested
  • K04SE-D Buckeye (Lowcountry 34 Media LLC) has requested a major modification to its license, proposing a channel change, site move, and change in city of license. The station is requesting to broadcast from the electronics site atop the White Tank Mountains on VHF channel 11, where it will be able to serve most of Phoenix and the West Valley. Technical specifications: Ch 11; TL 33° 34' 5" N, 112° 33' 33" W (White Tank Mtns.); ERP 3 kW HP 1° EBT; HAAT 738 m / 2,621 ft.
  • The FCC has accepted an amendment from KHSV 21.x (2) Las Vegas NV (Channel 33 Inc.), specifying UHF channel 23 as its new channel. Technical Specifications: Ch 23; TL 36° 0' 31" N, 115° 0' 20" W (Black Mtn.); ERP 1000 kW H, 300.3 kW V, 1.5° EBT
License Renewals
  • The FCC has renewed the license of KMSB 11.x (25) Tucson (Sander Operating Co. V LLC DBA KMSB Television) through October 1, 2030.
  • The FCC has renewed the license of KTTU 18.x (19) Tucson (KTTU-TV Inc.) through October 1, 2030.
Expired, Expiring, Canceled and Dismissed
  • The FCC has canceled the license of KJPO-LD 25.x Parker (Iglesia Manmin Toda la Creacion USA Inc.), presumably for failure to broadcast within a 12-month period.
  • KDOS-LD 19.x Globe (KTVW License Partnership GP) has withdrawn its request for an Engineering STA.
  • KGHD-LD 6.x Las Vegas NV (Obidia Porras) has withdrawn its minor modification request.
Rulemaking
  • The FCC has amended the Rulemaking request from KHSV 21.x (2) Las Vegas NV (Channel 33 Inc.) to specify UHF channel 23 as its requested channel instead of UHF channel 21, which is short spaced to the UHF channel 21 allotment at St. George UT.
Notices
  • K35OU-D 21.x Tucson (Ventana Television Inc.) has notified the FCC that it is off the air. The station attempted to replace its transmitter on Nov. 1, but an unexpected snowstorm overnight made the site inaccessible, requiring the crew to leave the site before the work was completed.
