New licenses
KPHE-LP 44 Phoenix (Lotus Communications) has been granted a license to cover their move to South Mountain. They had been operating under an STA.
New construction permits
Construction permits have been granted to the auction MX group winners reported last month. New permits are:
K07YJ Bullhead City (Mohave County Board of Supervisors) Translator of KSAZ 10 Phoenix
K39II Needles CA (Charles Townsend III)
K49IM Parker (Yuma Broadcasting Company) Possible translator of KYMA 11 Yuma?
Applications filed but not yet approved
K30ES Globe (Globe LPTV LLC) has applied to move their transmitter site from its current location on Signal Peak south of the Globe/Miami area to Castle Dome south of Roosevelt Lake and east of Canyon Lake and to increase ERP from 0.7 kW to 32 kW. The predicted coverage from the current license encompasses the Cobre Valley and the COL, Globe; the predicted coverage from the application barely reaches Miami and excludes Globe, but includes Apache Junction. They intend to keep Globe as their COL. The station has been licensed for some time, but I've never seen it on the air.
Both KWKM-LP 10 Concho and KWSJ-LP 12 Concho (KM Communications) have applied to increase the ERP specified on their CPs from 0.95 kW to 3 kW.
K61FB Globe/Miami (Multimedia Holdings Corp) has applied for displacement relief, requesting to move to channel 48. This is the Gannett-owned translator for KPNX 12 Phoenix in Globe.
KPHE-LP 44 Phoenix has applied to increase their ERP from 10 kW to 150 kW and changing from an omnidirectional antenna to a directional antenna pointed at 70°. The new pattern might leave out the far West Valley
KWTA-LP 31 Tucson has applied for displacement relief, requesting to move to channel 51. The reason they cite is being inside the protected contours of KUAT-DT 30 Tucson and KOLD-DT 32 Tucson and having contour overlap with KSAZ-DT 31 Phoenix, although contour overlap with KPPX 51 Phoenix after 2009 doesn't seem to be a concern. I wonder if significant interference from KUVE 46 Green Valley also has something to do with their wanting to move.
KWTF-LP 51 Flagstaff has applied for modification of their CP, moving their transmitter site from Mt. Elden in Flagstaff to Bill Williams Mtn. in Williams, increasing their ERP from 0.7 kW to 150 kW, and changing their broadcast pattern. They propose to mount their antenna on the same tower as KSAZ's K43IE and use a "bowtie" pattern that would cover Ash Fork, Williams, Bellemont, and Flagstaff from downtown west, versus the pattern in their current permit, which would encompass Flagstaff alone.
K20HS Flagstaff has applied for modification of their CP, moving their transmitter site from about 6 mi E of Walnut Canyon to Mormon Mtn. and changing antenna pattern from a very narrowly focused (and IMO useless) signal pointed NNE to a signal a bit less focused and directed toward the city of Flagstaff.
Applications filed for renewal of license
