Arizona TV Updates - 12/31/05

-KTVP-LP Phoenix has moved from Channel 64 carrying "America's Store" home shopping, to Channel 22 with the Almavision Spanish-language Christian network (formerly on what is now KEJR-LP 43). The signal (from South Mountain) is very weak at this moment, and I'm not sure if they're at their maximum power or not.

-DirecTV this week has added KTFL-4 Flagstaff, KMOH-TV 6/KEJR-LP 43 Kingman/Phoenix, and AZ-TV (aka KAZT-TV 7/KAZT-CA 27 Prescott/Phoenix) to its Phoenix local channels package. KTFL, which runs FamilyNet programming 24/7, does not show any top of the hour ID's on DirecTV - just a blank screen for a minute between programs. This is leading me to believe that programming is being fed (either from satellite or high-capacity telecommunications lines) from its owners in Tupelo, Mississippi to DirecTV's Phoenix "headend" as well as KTFL's transmitter in Flagstaff, with the top of the hour ID's being inserted at the transmitter site. Can anyone who can recieve KTFL's over-the-air signal confirm this? As for KMOH, it identifies itself as KEJR, and also no sign of "KMOH-TV Kingman" legal ID.

Additional Updates

Transactions

The FCC has approved the sale of the CP for K38IH Winslow from Dean M. Mosely to Village Broadcasting Corp. of Los Angeles.

NBC/Telemundo has applied for the transfer of KDRX-CA 48 and KPHZ-LP 58 to Community Television Educators (Daystar). KPHZ-LP was not mentioned in the announcement of the channel swap between KPHZ-TV and KDTP.

Channel Displacement

K55DB Prescott, translator of KAET 8, has applied to move to channel 43. The application has not yet been approved by the FCC.

Transmitter Relocation

Telefutura Television Group was granted permission by the FCC to move stations KZOL-LP 15 Safford and K21GC Safford to a new tower at the same site approx. 200' from the existing tower.

KVPA-LP 42 Phoenix has applied to move from Usery Mtn to South Mtn. If the move is approved by the FCC, it would leave K57HX and silent KCOS-CA 28 as the only TV stations still licensed to broadcast from Usery Mtn.

Expired Construction Permit

12/10: K09JZ Winslow - CP to move to ch. 5, slight change in transmitter location.<P ID="signature">______________

KTFL ID

Was in Verde Valley yesterday. Couldn't get a video signal which is odd, but caught the audio feed. They use an audio top-of-hour ID: "You're watching KTFL channel 4, Flagstaff"<P ID="signature">______________
