Did anyone catch The Lively Experiment on Thursday night? Former talk host and A. G. Arlene Violet was on. Her outrage of the week was about former Mayor, Felon - talk host, Buddy Cianci. Violet said Cianci was LYING about a film maker taking money for putting people in his movie.
Next day Buddy lets loose on Arlene. " She sheldom knows what she's talking about". " Her ratings were 0.9"." "she was incompetent as A.G". On and on.
Now I don' know really who's right and who's wrong, but, It is so Creepy to have this corrupt politican calling out a form A.G. who never broke a law in her life.
I felt like I was listening to some Gangster on Federal Hill complaining about the FBI. It's just weird times I guess, even weirder radio.
 
Mayor Cianci sure does attack alot of people every chance he gets.
 
Buddy Cianci has as much business being in radio as I do as the point guard for the Boston Celtics. Hiring convicted felons speaks volumes about the state of radio today.

Keep in mind that Buddy is far from the only person in the Media who has a felony on their record. I'm not sure why a conviction is supposed to mean that you can't get a job? I would much rather have a felon on the radio than in numerous other careers that I can think of. Would you rather have a felon on the radio or would you rather have a felon in your favorite restaurant making your food? Would you rather have a felon on the radio or would you rather have him landscaping your yard? Would you rather have a felon on the radio or would you rather have him painting the walls inside your kids school? Maybe you would rather have the felon working as the auto mechanic who fixes your car.

I don't want to hear about how bad it is for a convicted felon to work in broadcasting. Guess what? It's the one place where a convict won't cause any harm. As a matter of fact I can't think of a better place to hire a felon than a radio station. The felon is confined to a small room where they can't touch your food, your family, your money nor your property. You think this is a bad thing? I strongly suggest you think about this a little more.
 
Good point, SkyNet. Let me rephrase:

It really comes down to credibility . Arlene has it, Buddy doesn't. She's the Cop. He's the criminal.

Mixed emotions here. I don't think anyone doubts the wisdom of WPRO's hiring him but there are probably very few in radio that don't resent it just a little considering his price tag and whatever other perks he's getting. The felon who paid his dues and is painting the walls of your kids'school isn't being treated royally by both radio and TV or making the big bucks either. Most radio people who are serious about their careers look at the business as something you try to rack up accomplishments in. Granted Buddy does have past media accomplishments before the prison term but I still think the reason radio and TV have beaten a path to his door is more due to his notoriety than those accomplishments. The long term will tell the story. Oh by the way on Arlene's poor numbers, is Buddy now divulging numbers on the air? I thought they were embargoed even as far back as the time when Arlene was on the air.
 
Buddy did say 0.9 in her last Book..

Can you imagine a debate between those 2 ! I'd pay to see that one!

Tounge in cheek? Not really. Did you know that Howard Stern works two feet away from a convicted felon each day. His name is Artie Lange. He robbed a bank when he was younger. He was convicted and jailed for it. He's also Stern's head writer and a big part of the show. If one of the the most successful radio personalities in the history of broadcasting can work with a felon on the air all morning, than I don't think it's all that much different to have Buddy in front of a mic. The only difference would be that not as many people are hearing Buddy on the radio as are listening to Stern and his felon.

The real vindictive side to Buddy's personality is finally coming out. First off it's quite apparent that Buddy is very much a political insider with the unions and Democrats in RI. Those of us who pay attention to local politics always knew this but the Average Joe is really getting an education about Buddy's "friends" and loyalties. It's not by accident that all the heavy hitter union types have run to Buddy's show and get the velvet glove treatment. Today's show was so bad I had to turn it off. He had the head of the RI GOP on and did nothing but talk over the guy. What was really distasteful is how Mr. Cianci was toying with the pronounciation of the guys last name.....as Gio Ciccione is hanging on the line waiting to continue the interview. Buddy knew damn right well how to pronounce this guy's name but did it to belittle the guy. Buddy is an a-hole but he always has been. Buddy Ciainci is a BAD guy with a very vindictive side to his personality and slowly but surely he's "coming out" of his shell. All I know is I'm all done listening after today. Don't need to listen to a convicted felon belittle others as he defends the corrupt RI political machinery that he's very much a part of.
 
Again, the long term will tell the story. After the hubbub dies down it's a matter of who other than political insiders and gadflies cares. Some feel he's not being "Buddy" enough and others feel a dark side is surfacing. He's paid his debt to society but I don't think he should be taking aim at anyone. There's that old adage about the pot and the kettle. He needs to just hope the right people get diaries. If the wrong ones get them he could be in trouble but I predict he's OK through 2008.
 
Radiohead, you are 100 percent correct. Buddy is a Bad Guy. The Night of Terror , when he held MR Deleo for 4 hours , beat the man with a fireplace log, urinated on him and put out burning cigarettes on the mans testiciles. Thats Buddy Cianci. Buddy has had the 'tuff' guy union heads on. They're welcome on his show.
The Mob and Unions ALL Buddies 'buddies'.
Let me say this, Arlene Violet will NEVER back down from Cianci. One thing Buddy may want to think twice about is messing with Arlene.
 
I think a lot of people are taking aim at Buddy and unfairly bashing him for past mistakes. Personally, I can accept his mistakes. Nobody is perfect. People make mistakes every day. The guy is only human. He did his time and it's over. So maybe we should focus less on him burning people with cigars 30 years ago and instead focus more on what is coming out of the radio from him TODAY. That's just my two cents again. That makes four cents in one day. You bunch of fruits better appreeciate it ;-)
 
Skynet, you are a very fair man. Believe me, I know Buddy. Have for over 20 yrs. I can't write the things I know, too risky. I just want you to know all the 'fair ' you're giving him he would never give you. Whether its Deleo 15 yrs ago or Correnti 5 yrs ago, thats only what the 'public' knows. Mulitply it 20 fold.
If a good man like you knew him, I have no doubt you'd despise him and would never want him setting in that chair. I just gave you my buck 3 80.
