ARLENE COULD STILL GET HER FINAL DAY

According to a story in the Lifebeat section of today's ProJo, WPRO has been running brief tributes to Arlene, congratulating her on retirement & praising her. WPRO PD Paul Giammarco invited Arlene to make her farewells, but so far she hasn't accepted. Very classy move. I think she should consider making an appearance.

At least WPRO has some class. They've always been TOP DOG in town for a reason. I may not agreee with all they do..... but they are still a very good Radio Station.

It's a nice gesture but the folks holding the non-compete form won't like it so much!

It's dispicable that WHJJ and Clear Channel did not allow Arlene to have her "last day on the air." She's been an icon on Rhode Island radio for several years. Companies like Clear Channel disgust me to no end.

Wouldn't a non-compete agreement prohibit her from working, consulting, etc for a competitor? A one-shot unpaid-for appearance on WPRO wouldn't be employment. Would it even be worth it for WHJJ to try to stop her at this point? Then again, I'm no attorney. Then again, Arlene is.

Shades of Carolyn Fox, WPRO, & WRX! Tonight we really are gonna party like it's 1999!

Runrigger,

You are sooooooo right. How much did CC pay the folks over at the trail to get Fox? $$$$$$
Remember those tv spots where Carolyn had her mouth taped up. And Rudy did all the talking?
Trying to make WRX into a version of WHJY. A worthy try.But WRX's audience was way passed
Carolyn's antics.Despite its signal issues. The Music was good. And Rick OB is missed.................

I guess it depends on the verbiage of the non-compete. Either way it's a slap in the face to CC.

Citadel has been slapping CC a lot lately from the ads about losing the Coast morning crew to this.Even if Arlene Violet doesn't make a WPRO appearance this has an effect on listener's minds.
