Arlene didn't get her final day.

As reported by WJAR TV last night, Arlene was scheduled to work one final day so she as well as her audience could say goodbyes. However in typical Radio fashion Clear Channel pulled a fast one on her and didn't allow her to do the final show that they had promised.

If any one of you have any doubt in your Mind that this business is run by the lowest of the low, than you've still got time to change your mind. I can't count how many times I've heard similar stories. Not only is it bad enough to fire half the company right before Christmas, but you arn't even going to allow someone to Broadcast the final show you promised them.

This is the sort of thing that made me get into the Voiceover Business. I can work independently from home and don't have to deal with this type of corporate Bullcrap! Some of you Radio Stations have lost your freaking Minds!

I almost called you 'SKY KING'... Net, yes , it was a 'CORWIN' decision. Bill George is left holding the bag.
Then you saw the 'sit down' with Gene Valicenti, very nice.
10 gave her , her due.
One thing, Arlene stated Howie Barte beat Helen Glover regularly in the ratings.
NOT TRUE, NEVER!!!!!
That was , I think a major down fall of Arlene, . Please follow me on this: Arlene is an honest person
who would LIE on the radio about facts at least once a week on air. She was consantly rewriting
history about the Casino - Indian debate. It's just something she does and most don't pick it up.
Check Glover vs, Barte. You will see what I'm writing about. Valid points Sky 'net'. Walter.

Just heard on Matty's show that Tony (from Narra) doesn't call in anymore cause he was told not to call other shows. He subs at another station and they told him not too.

Surprised at Tony to accept those conditions.

Mrs joy,, I heard it too. Matt was talking about Tony Farr who subbs for Helen Glover.
So Jim Corwin won't let him call Matts show. Wasn't calling Allens show a free comerical for Farr on HJJ literally every week?
There must be 50,000 Saturday listeners to Allens show. How many to HJJs 20,000?
Once again HJJ shots themsleves in the foot.
I liked Tonys calls on Matt Allen Nation. I wish Tony told them no.
Matter of fact, WHJJ should buy time on WPRO to let people know there still out there!

Seems Walter (wcwc3434) was fantasizing again when he said "One thing, Arlene stated Howie Barte beat Helen Glover regularly in the ratings.
NOT TRUE, NEVER!!!!!"

I have personally seem the books and what Arlene said was true. Barte was always slightly ahead of Glover, and in fact was ahead of Arlene in two of the past three books.

Arlene didn't lie and the books don't lie. I guess that just leaves on disgruntled person who qualifies.

YoMo, fool!

YoMo, relax my friend. I'm looking at the numbers. We can't quote numbers on Radio info but Mrs Golver had higher over all numbers than Howie Barte.
I also called someone with C.C.
They said , if in fact, if Howies numbers were better than Helen Golvers, Howie would have been picked for 12 to 3.
I'll recheck all this Monday.
Sorry, if we have a difference in information.
Happy Hollidays.

Arlene probably said something in private that infuriated the management. Arlene was rude and obnoxious on the air just imagine how much fun she was to deal with behind the scenes at WHJJ.

walter, Howie Barte said during his farewell phonecall on Arlene's show that Corwin was the person who talked him out of retirement and onto the air. Since Howie Barte was the single worst radio talk show host I've ever heard in any market we can lay much of the blame over the destruction of that once fine station at Corwin's feet. What a joke!

Radiohead and wc3434's opinions notwithstanding, as I said, the Arbitron book all three quarters showed Howie led Helen 3 out of three and Arlene 2 out of three. I'm sure your conservative asses hated Howie's liberal view, and Arlene was as liberal as he was in reality. But then, the liberals aren't the ones revising numbers for Radio-Info.

The facts are that ratings had nothing to do with these decisions, and frankly, neither did Corwin. It is all about corporate money, and Radiohead posted elsewhere the REAL bottom line on CC: why keep salaried folks when you can have machine radio? The only variable is whether or not RI is going to put up with Hannity-style syndication.

There are those out there with a LOT of money that are betting against it. This ain't Texas, and Rhode Island likes what it likes. One can only listen to so much XM radio before it gets old.

YoMo, fool!!

OK - if in fact Skynet your contention is that what Clear Channel did was wrong because it was dishonest -- then I must call you on the dishonesty of your web site. You've liberally slapped the logos of all of the major networks there right on your front page... why? Decorative? Or are you implying that you've worked for ABC, CBS and all the rest? Cause I know damn well, ya haven't... an affiliate maybe - but I doubt that too. And while I'm at it - you stated that you "got out of radio" because of this dishonesty displayed by companies like Clear Channel" ... isn't the truth more like you lost your job and decided not to go back to radio? Big diff my friend. I'm not at all defending Clear Channel. They the worst! But please don't preach about business ethics when you pulled a fast one yourself...

LOL. I left Radio by choice. I was never fired from a Broadcasting job. I always chose to leave on my own accord. As far as displaying some Networks on my website. I never said I worked for every one of them. It's the same type of assumption you came to when you said "you think I could have worked for an affiliate, but you doubt that too." Why would you doubt anything? You don't even know me. You are drawing your own wacky conclusions and running with them.

Keep in mind this is about Arlene and not about me. You are getting sidetracked and coming up with some nutty statements in the process. You are attacking me for simply having an opinion. Hmmmmm very interesting. The last time this happened it came from a Radio Nutcase and her former Boss. I sincerely hope we arn't going to go down this road again.
