arlene vs yorke

did anyone think it was a bit odd that in the prov sunday journal with the story on dan yorke that the ratings numbers were displayed?? what i mean is, do you think the projo writer actually knew them?? it's one thing to say , you are beating someone in the ratings and then it was almost as if he had to prove it by listing the numbers. it kind of bothered me. maybe im crazy but it seemed a little obnoxious..

Yeah, it was obnoxious but that's Yorke's style lately.
He'd better hope HJJ does not get their act together because
if they do then his stay on the top of the ratings mountain will be short lived.

All I can say is Dan Yorke oughta be sending thank you notes and free lunches over the HJJ management team for this gift. He wouldn't have gotten there on the merits of his show. He didn't win so much as HJJ has lost it - BIG time. I feel bad for Arlene. She's so good, mired amidst mediocrity.

Arlene's Thick accent makes me cringe. I couldn't picture listening to her for more than a minute at a time. Even those Gutter Helmet commercials make me want to break my TV. It's to bad that someone of her stature never learned how to speak proper English.

whetther you like her or not you should still show her respect.Unlesss you have a higher education than her.Then speak your mind.

<font color=green> Arlene is a terrific person with a wonderful education but radio is about sound and like some other locals, she never bothered with trying to lose the accent. Should it even have to be said that broadcasting without the lowbrow ethnic accents which plague RI, is an asset not a liability?</font>

I have to agree Arlene's "Roe Dylin Dacksent" is pretty thick. I can only guess the locals love that, though - or at least used to, "for cryin' out loud."

I think it's her version of branding. Funny but jocks who only get a fraction of open mike time compared to talk show hosts work hard to lose accents.
