Army-Navy Exec Order

Only one that would appear to matter to him.

This past year, the HBCU Celebration Bowl aired at noon on Saturday, December 13 (ABC). At 3:00pm the Army-Navy game started (CBS).

The idiot-in-chief's "order" calls for a four-hour window of exclusivity, which means the Celebration Bowl telecast would conflict. Even without that window, the HBCU game was still on when the contest between West Point and Annapolis began and would have been a "prohibited" overlap.

That is, if he actually had the authority to enforce that order.

We all know how much he hates private universities. I can only imagine how he feels about private Black universities.

A reminder that executive orders only apply to departments he oversees. So he can tell the army or navy not to participate. But he has no jurisdiction over the NCAA or college football. They are free to do whatever they want. They also only last for one year.

What games are usually up against army navy?
For, basically none. If there is further CFP expansion the game could potentially be crowded. The President has fired his warning shot over the bow to the CFP Committee on this. I think they'll be careful to ensure the A-N Game retains its exclusivity as they consider changes.

The president signed this EO today. It really is a waste of time because all it does is direct two members of his cabinet to meet with the NCAA and media partners to protect the Army-Navy game.

Trump directed the commerce secretary and FCC chairperson to coordinate with the CFP committee, the NCAA and media rights partners to ensure an exclusive broadcasting window for the storied rivalry traditionally played the second Saturday each December.

What he wants to protect is that he will get TV coverage when he attends the game. EOs have no jurisdiction to anyone except those in the executive branch.

I think he's looking to maintain the exclusivity of the A/N game on that weekend.
So what can the other stations and networks air during that time slot? Anything but other college football games? Or is counterprogramming with hockey, basketball, figure skating or other sports programming also forbidden?

It's strictly about college football.

I sure there is a political angle to this. I am pretty sure their is nothing "personal".

According to Wikipedia the President's Grandfather Friedrich made a lot of money running a restaurant - brothel for the goldminers during the Klondike Gold Rush. Friedrich tried to move back Bavaria permanently but the was prohibited because he was labeled a draft dogger. However Fred (Donald's Dad) was convinced in Bavaria. The best I can tell no one in the President's immediate family has worn a military uniform since 1901.

Correct, and that will continue with his youngest son, who is apparently exempt.

What the president likes about the military is that they work for him and do what he says.

Imagine how history could have been changed had Friedrich been allowed to move back to Germany! Why, Fred could have become a successful developer in Bavaria, and Donald (or Dieter or Detlef or whatever German name he was given) could have gone into right-wing politics and become .... Oh wait. Let's not imagine that.

Aren't some of the Basketball players at both academies over 6 ft 9?
I believe that they are allowed to enroll if they are under 6-9 as high school seniors, and can continue to play basketball and attend classes should they go through a growth spurt during their years at the academy, but once they complete their education and training, they get an honorable discharge. I believe that's what happened to David Robinson at the Naval Academy. Not sure about how West Point and Air Force Academy handle these situations.

Depends on if there is another college football game, which historically there isn’t. The orange idiot is relying on extortion to ensure the NCAA doesn’t schedule anything. Nothing scheduled = nothing for the broadcasters to air.

What’s important is the continued extortion of third parties and the interference in things the government, let alone a president, has no bleeping business sticking its nose into.
Or is counterprogramming with hockey, basketball, figure skating or other sports programming also forbidden?
An executive order in and of itself is stupid performative BS. It has no legal standing over a business. But again, that’s not the point. It’s that he uses his minions to extort what they want through threats and intimidation.
