The interesting thing is that I'd think adding local hosts would
help prog-talk stations. If I were Arnie I'd make a pitch to
do a show for WKOX/WXKS in Boston, though I don't know where they'd
put her. They wouldn't want to lose Miller or Franken (though if
Franken runs for Senate and gives up show...) or Schulz...I would
think that, like conservative talk stations, there should be at
least ONE show dealing with local issues, etc. A place like Boston
should easily have someone do a locally based show. National
stuff is important too but you need that local element as well.
Sad if this is a trend a libtalkers (having to dismiss local hosts)
WHJJ in Providence, on the other hand, HAS seemed to go into a local
direction with Helen Glover and Howie Barte replacing Springer and
Franken. We'll have to see how they do in ratings.
