Aroostook and WNSX

My wife and I had a chance to head to Aroostook County last night and had a chance to check out the Citadel cluster up there. They have definately made a few changes. Their country station sounds about the same, but the Hot AC is now locally produced(except for Bob and Sheri in the morning) and the oldies station is now doing rock(sort of mainstream, but with more classic leaning).

Also, had a chance to listen to WNSX as we cruised through Calais. Sounds good. Very simplistic and uncluttered. We did not listen for very long, tho. The signal was fairly staticy on our radio at that distance.

How about WQDY? How are they sounding? They appear to have a very strong local presence up that way.

I really did not have a chance to listen. However, did have a chance to check out their new sister(WCRQ, The Border). I say new because the purchase is fairly recent, but I do realize that the station has been around for a while. They are sounding like a CHR... Sort of... Music-wise they sound like a CHR, but the formatics lack a CHR feel.

WCRQ is more Hot AC than CHR, at least thats what they are pushing for, WQDY is now a classic hits station, well it has been for a while now. I worked there for a number of years (pre WCRQ buyout) when there was no set format, kinda a jack format berfore there was an official jack format, a few set rules, and then it was up to the DJ to play what he/she wanted...dont ever see that much anymore with commerical radio....those were the days......

Sounds damn good in my opinion. :)
