Are there any other PD's out there going completely bananas trying to find the right news bed?

I'm the PD of a news/talk station ... and it me it seems so important. I really want to set the tone at the top of every hour ... and I think I've listened to every cheesy music bed in the world in search of the right one ...

HELP!

Or at least sympathize with me ... :)

I'm not a pd, but I do recommend that, when in doubt, COPY!
Remember, if it's a market far enough away, it's not stealing...it's research!

Well, I'm an old-timer, and, as such, I love all the classic stuff. The famous Johnny Mann "Drake" sounder (originally done for KHJ), still stands up. A bit more nostalgic is the PAMS bed for the old American Contemporary Network, as is the "non-chimes" NBC sounder used in the early 70's.

Send me your e-mail address, and I'll attach these for your listening edification. <P ID="signature">______________

I too am a fan of using the Drake news sounder. In fact I cleaned it up and processed it in Vegas with some EQ and L2 plug-ins. Sounds huge now. However, as big a fan as I am of the bed, IMHO it's more suited for oldies stations than today's news/talk stations, which are contemporary in sound/imaging.

If you have money, or can do barter, TM Century has a great news/talk package. KDKA is among those that use it.

Premiere Radio has the MJI News/Talk Image kit (barter) and also Matrix, targeted at NT and Sports stations.

AvDeli is going out of business. I believe the Metropolis set is suited for NT.

I'm taking a look at the N/T Ammo package ... any opinions on that?

I used to work with the imaging guy who puts it together for Clear Channel and I know he does some amazing work ... distributed through Premiere ...
