ARRRRGH Amigos! Spanish Pirate Spotted Again in SAV...

Was doing my usual bandscan on the way to work on Hilton Head and noticed a VERY strong signal from 94.7. It seemed to sign off earlier in the year and is back in action! That station was a rimshot in most of Bluffton and was drowned out by the time you hit HHI before. Now, my seek button hit it in Bluffton and picked it up all around southern Beaufort county like a semi-local signal...

What type of power is this guy throwing out to go that far? What tower owner would OK that much unlicensed FM radiation? (since there are no skyscrapers per-se in Savannah). I know its in mono so it goes farther, but I have never heard a regular broadcasting pirate with a 30 mile signal!!!!! That pirate has some serious cajones and a transmitter site I'd like to see!

It doesn't take that much power to get good range on a clear channel. I've heard a 10 watt station, on 87.7, with the antenna on the roof of a one story building get out 5-7 miles with a good signal. I also remember a 100 watt pirate with it's antenna side mounted on a 4 story building in Athens that got out at least 25 miles.
